And that’s where you come in.\nJob Description:\nThe Software Analyst contributes to the design, development, integration, and testing of low- to medium-complexity operationally critical and safety-critical software systems within the railway signaling domain. Working under the guidance of a Senior Software Analyst or Technical Specialist, the incumbent develops expertise in one or more subsystem functional areas and supports the delivery of high-quality software solutions. The role involves analyzing requirements, implementing software changes, performing testing activities, and ensuring compliance with established software architecture, design patterns, and safety-critical development processes.\nKey Responsibilities:\nContribute to the refinement of mission and functional descriptions, software architecture, algorithm design, and functional and non-functional requirements.\nDesign, code, debug, test, and review software components of low to medium complexity and criticality.\nDevelop test procedures and execute software verification and validation activities.\nProduce and execute integration tests on simulated environments and target hardware test benches.\nPerform detailed impact analyses for software changes affecting multiple components under supervision.\nInvestigate software defects, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.\nConduct engineering testing in simulation environments and support investigation of field-reported issues.\nCollaborate with Systems Engineering teams to ensure system-software consistency, proper component refinement, and compliance with software architecture.\nRequired Skills and Experience:\nMinimum 1 year of relevant professional experience in software development or engineering.\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.\nFoundational engineering analysis and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to diagnose issues using logs and correlate events to failures.\nAbility to work on small- to medium-scale software applications and deliver solutions within established engineering guidelines.\nKnowledge of software development processes and lifecycle methodologies.\nAbility to work independently and integrate effectively within a collaborative engineering team.\nExperience with software development environments and tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, desktop simulators, and target simulators.\nBasic knowledge of railway signaling systems, including SelTrac CBTC.\nExperience working within Agile development environments.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications.\nExperience using source control, IDE, and requirements management tools such as Git, Jira, Eclipse, ClearCase, ClearQuest, and DOORS.\nPreferred Skills and Experience:\nProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.\nExperience developing software for embedded systems using C and C++.\nExperience using scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Ruby.\nExposure to modelling and simulation techniques.\nExperience developing software on Windows, Linux, and Unix platforms.\nUnderstanding of control theory concepts, including PID, PD, fuzzy logic, and adaptive controllers.\nKnowledge of graph theory concepts and applications.\nBase Salary Range: $68,000 - $85,000\nThe Company provides an extensive benefits program for all full-time employees working 24 or more hours per week and their eligible dependents, including the following:\nHealth, Dental and Vision plans - 100% of premiums are company-paid \nRetirement Savings Plan with a company match\nCompany paid holidays - 3 weeks of vacation\nCompany provided Life and accident Insurance, LTD \nWorklife programs such as Flextime and a variety of Development and Training opportunities \nThis posting relates to an existing vacancy.\nOur hiring process uses both human and technology-assisted (AI) tools to support candidate screening and assessment.
