It's built to scale for cloud-native and AI workloads. The engineering scrum teams build and maintain the full\nThe role:\nWe're looking for a motivated Software Development Engineer to design, build and maintain core parts of VSP One Object and Hitachi Content Platform. You'll work with architects, product owners, QA, DevOps and Support to deliver storage features that are reliable, fast and scalable.\nWhat you\"ll bring\nDesign, develop, test and maintain features and services across the Object portfolio, including S3-compatible APIs, distributed metadata, deployment tooling and platform subsystems.\nWrite clean, modular, maintainable code with thorough unit and integration tests, and take part in code reviews.\nFind and fix complex defects, performance bottlenecks and reliability problems in distributed storage components.\nHelp with customer escalations and sustaining work: root-cause analysis, fixes and verification.\nFollow and promote engineering best practices for CI/CD, security, CVE remediation and observability (telemetry, metrics, dashboards).\nHelp build and improve automated test frameworks, including functional, performance and scale testing.\nWork in an Agile/Scrum team to deliver high-quality releases on schedule.\nWrite clear technical documentation, such as design notes, runbooks and RCAs.\nRequired qualifications\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.\nAbout 2-5 years of professional software development, ideally on enterprise software, distributed systems or storage.\nStrong programming skills in at least one of Java, Go, Python or C/C++.\nGood working knowledge of Linux/Unix and scripting (Bash, Python).\nHands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes (RKE2 is a plus) and with microservice architectures.\nUnderstanding of REST APIs, distributed systems concepts and cloud storage protocols, especially the AWS S3 API.\nExposure to relational or distributed databases such as PostgreSQL or YugabyteDB.\nExperience with Git and CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins or GitHub Actions.\nStrong problem-solving and communication skills, and comfort working in a collaborative, fast-paced team.\nPreferred qualifications\nExperience with enterprise storage (object, block or file), for example HCP, S3 object stores or Ceph/MinIO-style systems.\nFamiliarity with S3 features such as Object Lock, versioning, replication and data integrity.\nExposure to observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana, and to messaging systems such as RabbitMQ.\nKnowledge of identity and access management, such as Keycloak or OAuth2/OIDC.\nExperience with performance benchmarking tools (for example WARP), containerized test harnesses or release engineering.\nAwareness of storage security: encryption, key management and vulnerability remediation.\nWhat success looks like in the first year\nIndependently delivers medium-complexity features and fixes from design through release.\nBecomes the go-to contributor for at least one Object component, such as SDT, Transition Tool or the S3 layer.\nAdds measurable improvements to test coverage, automation or observability.\nTakes part in customer escalations as a reliable technical contributor.\nWhy join us\nWork on enterprise storage at large scale that customers worldwide depend on.\nLearn from experienced storage architects and engineers.\nGrow your career within the Hitachi Vantara engineering organization.\nAbout us\nWe’re a global team of innovators.
