This role, located in Farmington, NM is responsible for the welding to erect steel structures, skid’s, guards, and many other welding duties. This type of welding is done by using a variety of designs, such as the groove weld, fillet weld, weld length, complete joint penetration, partial joint penetration, lap joints, weld size, weld spacing, transitions and static and cyclical loading.\nDuties and responsibilities:\nResponsible for cleaning and maintaining tools used in structural welding.\n\nPerform a variety of welding techniques, including shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, and flux-cored arc welding\n\nFollow proper safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area\n\nWelders work with very hot materials and are exposed to hazardous fumes, noises, vibrations, atmospheric conditions, oils, or other fluids.\n\nRead and interpret blueprints and welding specifications to fabricate, assemble, and weld structural metal components and products\n\nAssist with general shop housekeeping duties and perform occasional metal fabrication tasks as needed\n\nEnsure adherence to quality standards and specifications by conducting visual inspections of welds and performing necessary repairs or modifications\n\nSafely operate and maintain welding tools, equipment, and machinery such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding machines\n\nEducation:\nTwo or more years’ experience welding on oilfield related equipment (or similar type equipment).\n\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent (Related Industry experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements)\n\nProfessional experience:\nKnowledge is required in the following areas: assembly; parts: welding; welding symbols; ability to read and understand welding drawings; quality control; and safety.\n\nEffective verbal and written communication skills are required\n\nMust be able to read, evaluate, and respond to product specifications and drawing, and perform normal math calculations easily.\n\nProficient in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes\n\nMust have strong general mechanical skills.\n\nAdherence to D1.1 Welding Code\n\nStrong attention to detail and the ability to perform high-quality welding in a fast-paced setting Ability to safely use tools and equipment to test and repair assigned equipment.\n\nCapable of working independently or as part of a team\n\nIn-depth knowledge of reading blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols\n\nPhysical Requirements:\nWelders will be required to take and pass a welding test consisting of 1/2” plate, open butt 6010 stringer 7018 filler in a vertical position.\n\nMust be able to walk and stand throughout an eight-to-twelve-hour day.\n\nMust be able to occasionally lift 80 lbs. from a table position to chest high using a proper lifting technique.\n\nMust be able to occasionally climb a ladder to reach areas to be welded and/or worked on.\n\nMust be able to repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts.\n\nExcellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity\n\nDirect reports:\nN/A\n\nThe successful candidate is responsible for complying with Hitachi’s Code of Ethics and related policies.
