And that’s where you come in.\nJob Description:\nTo support ongoing delivery and continued growth in our Signalling and Rail Solutions business we have an opening for a Systems Engineer. This is your chance to work on bids and projects that redefine rail safety and performance across the UK.\nAs a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining systems and solutions that meet the needs of our clients and users within the rail domain. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, implement solutions, and ensure the scalability, testability, reliability, and performance of our products and solutions.\nThis is a hybrid role working a minimum of two days per week from our offices in London, Birmingham or Cheadle. Exact location will depend on bid and project demands and will consider the selected candidate’s location.\nKey Responsibilities:\nYour responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:\nCollaborate with project managers, designers, customers and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications\nIdentify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and other engineering issues\nWork effectively with other engineering disciplines and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the project\nUnderstand and follow the project delivery processes, methodologies, and use the defined tools as set out in the Business Management System and the project specific Engineering Management Plans\nDesign and develop solutions using industry best practice\nConduct User Needs Analysis and contribute to the development of the concept solution\nCarry out requirements capture, requirements analysis and requirements management\nParticipate in Value Engineering and contributing to technical trade-off studies evaluating alternative design configurations and functional features\nGenerate System Specifications using relevant modelling and design techniques\nProduce interface designs and specifications\nProduce test plans, specifications and scripts in collaboration with IVVQ engineers and testers\nSupport Work Package Managers with timely provision of status, accurate measurement of progress and forecasting of remaining work and by identifying change, variation, risk and opportunity to the work package manager wherever the scope of works is impacted\nTechnical Skills and Experience\nExperience in Systems development, with a strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles and methodologies\nExperience in technical disciplines that are translatable to the rail industry\nAbility to use design tools to produce complex designs\nExperience of working in an engineering environment and understanding of engineering delivery methodologies\nUnderstanding of configuration control\nAbility to use system engineering tools, such as requirements management (DOORS/Polarion/Codebeamer) and Melody Advance or Enterprise Architect (SyML, UML)\nHuman Skills\nStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues\nKeep up to date with the latest technologies, tools, and trends in systems development\nExcellent communication skills in all forms and at all levels\nCollaborative and strong working within a multi-disciplined team\nExcellent stakeholder management\nWhat We Can Offer\nWe’re committed to giving you opportunities to be your best.
