At Hitachi Global Air Power, you will be part of a global network that is shaping the future of industrial power.\nSummary of the position:\nUnit Assemblers assemble various tight tolerance air end assemblies for delivery to internal and external customers, air test and potentially function test product. Must be able to utilize assembly drawings, blueprints and work center instructions to ensure conformance to standards. Should be skilled with dial indicators, depth micrometers, standard micrometers, specialized tooling and other tools employed within the process.\nThis position is located at the manufacturing plant of Hitachi Global Air Power US, LLC in Michigan City, Indiana, and reports to the Value Stream Leader - Unit Assembly.\nDuties and responsibilities:\nWork independently or in a team setting to build high quality air ends for internal and OEM customers.\nRead, interpret and follow basic engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.\nUse of hand tools, including air and battery powered drills, etc.\nPerform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards\nIdentify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.\nRework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes.\nSafe material handling processes, including forklift driving and overhead crane operating.\nMaintain equipment and submit work orders as appropriate.\nProblem solve/root cause analysis.\nEngage in computer transactions related to processes that impact inventory control.\nOperate a fork truck or other powered industrial vehicle safely and efficiently.\nParticipate in TPM and 6S events\nMust be able and willing to cross-train to build all models\nWork in all assembly as necessary\nOther tasks as directed\nQualifications:\nEducation:\nHigh School education or equivalent.\nProfessional experience:\nDemonstrates the knowledge and experience necessary to meet the requirements of the departmental assessment.\nExperience in tight tolerance assembly preferred.\nExperience in machine, automotive, marine, aerospace, assembly/maintenance/repair preferred.\nStrong mathematical skills.\nUnderstand technical blueprints procedures.\nComputer skills required (i.e., spreadsheets, data entry, email).\nAbility to use precision measurement device to work within tight tolerances.\nKey behaviors:\nHigh energy and aptitude for mechanical work that may be repetitive and require a high level of focus on quality\nLifting up to 35 lbs.\nLifting over 35 lbs. requires a lifting device, crane, or assistance from another associate.\nStanding and walking minimum of 8 hours.\nMust be able to bend/stoop, squat/crouch, kneel and twist.\nWorking with cranes, sharp edges on machined parts, and moving parts by carts.\nMust understand and comply with Hitachi Safety Standards.\nParticipate in EHS quarterly audits, if required.\nRequired to wear the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the work area.\nRequired to attend scheduled toolbox and safety meetings.\nMust immediately report injuries or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.\nAbility to work flexible shifts and overtime\nDirect reports:\nN/A\nThe successful candidate is responsible for complying with Hitachi Global Air Power US Code of Ethics and related policies.
