Our goal is to be the leading provider of exciting technology that improves the quality of mobility in communities around the world.We are continuing to grow, and are looking for a Controller join our team.\nThe Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the business including the review of the monthly financials, reporting on trends to management, preparing and reviewing budget to actual performances and working on cash flow issues. Additionally, the Controller is responsible for working with the banks to ensure that lines of credit are in alignment with the company requirements. The Controller is also responsible for calculating all departmental labor and overhead rates.\nThe Controller performs duties in an independent manner with little to no supervision, exceeds heightened discretion given the sensitive nature of the Controllers duties, and looks for assistance on non-routine events and issues. The Controller has the authority to make staff selection and development decisions for the department. \nPrimary Responsibilities:\nParticipates in the selection of the outside auditing firm and maintains ongoing relationships\nParticipates in the selection of the bank relationships and provides bank with required reports\nParticipates in the development of the corporation’s plans and programs as a strategic partner \nEvaluates and advises on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new strategies/services/product and regulatory actions\nPrepares all major audit schedules for the year-end audit\nReviews and recommends adjustments to monthly financials\nPrepares annual budgets by department and company budget \nPreparation of the yearly financial statements including footnotes as one of the primary responsibilities\nPreparation of monthly financial reporting package to include balance sheet, income statement, variance to budget report, cashflow forecast, breakeven analysis and backlog\nEnsures all single source bids are in compliance with FAR (Federal Acquisition Rules)\nPrepares and maintains FAR accounting documentation and manuals and ensure all applicable staff are trained\nParticipates in negotiations with various municipal authorities on FAR pricing and prepare answers to all FAR related questions\nPrepares all departmental labor and overhead rates for use in pricing proposals and for internal financial reporting\nPrepares and maintains software capitalization schedules for all research and development projects\nLeads the implementation of various modules in Axapta record keeping system\nEstablishes and maintains systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data and enhance the Organization’s value\nPrepares all Canadian business and tax forms including HST, QST and PST \nHandles Canadian immigration papers and customs documentations\nAdvises management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities. Direct determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets\nReviews Organizations benefits offering and advises management on recommendations for changes\nHandles RSP accounting documentation preparation and schedules\nObtains proactive knowledge of tax and financial practices of countries the Organization has an interest is doing business with\nPrepares updates summary sheet for pricing breaking out fixed and variable overhead costs and their impact on meeting profitability goals\nPrepare tax information required for Corporate tax returns\nRecruiting, training, supervising and evaluating department staff\nOther duties as assigned\nEducation & Experience:\nBachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting required\n10+ years experience in a leadership role in accounting\n4+ years experience in public accounting\nCPA certification and working knowledge of GAAP\nPreferred Education & Experience:\nAdvanced degree or certification\nExperience raising funds, understanding Capital markets and working with on Ex US finances\nSkills & Competencies:\nStrong analytical and problem solving skills\nStrong management skills\nStrong organizational skills\nStrong interpersonal skills\nStrong presentation skills\nAbility to influence and negotiation\nStrong ability to be detail oriented and work with a goal of precision\nStrong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines in a complete manner\nAbility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize\nStrong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and ability to learn new software programs such as D365.\nHMMS, (Hitachi Rail CD U.S. Ltd.) is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer\nThe compensation range posted for this position represents the anticipated minimum and maximum compensation for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate.
