Deck & Sons, a division of theH&K Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Screed Operator to become a part of our team for applying asphalt to road beds, parking lots, and airport runways.This position entails the operation of roller equipment and other asphalt-related activities to achieve daily production goals on road construction projects, often transferring from one task to another whenever the situation requires. Also must perform additional tasks ofother positions as needed and instructed by foreman.\nScreed operation on the asphalt paver involves making normal adjustments for obtaining proper depth, grade and finished cross section of asphalt material via screed controls.\nAbility to operate or initiative to learn to operate other equipment required on an asphalt crew.\nMay oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to the equipment.\nAbility to operate asphalt paver/screed within designated area with attention to detail and emphasis on craftsmanship\nAbility to guide and direct dump trucks while backing up to machine hopper when operating paver.\nManipulates hand or foot levers to control movements of machine spreads and levels asphalt on subgrade of highway and related surfaces such as parking lots, streets, etc.\nThorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.\nQualifications\nQualification/Requirements:\nOne to two years related asphalt and road construction experience preferred.\nAbility to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dustyenvironments.\nMust be willing to travel and work away from home when required.\nBe willing to work overtime, nights and weekends when necessary.\nMust have strong work ethic.\nAbility to work in a team setting.\nCommunication skills; Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, contractors and the generalpublic in a courteous, professional manner at all times.\nEnsure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.\nMust have a valid drivers license\nH&K provides complete heavy civil contracting and construction materials solutions with safety, speed, quality, efficiency and value.
