This role offers the opportunity to work on high-value, technically challenging disputes involving power systems, utilities, renewable energy, data centers, industrial facilities, and other critical infrastructure assets.\nWorking alongside some of the most respected experts in the industry, you'll join a small, prestigious team with a strong reputation in the market, significant autonomy, and a direct impact on both client outcomes and the continued growth of the practice.\nResponsibilities\nAnalyze electrical systems, equipment failures, construction issues, and engineering deficiencies.\n\nConduct forensic investigations and root cause analyses involving electrical power, instrumentation, and control systems.\n\nDevelop independent technical findings and expert opinions.\n\nPrepare forensic engineering reports and expert witness reports.\n\nSupport attorneys, insurers, and clients in claims, disputes, arbitration, and litigation matters.\n\nReview engineering designs, construction documents, operating records, and applicable industry standards.\n\nServe as a testifying expert in mediation, deposition, arbitration, and litigation proceedings.\n\nCommunicate complex technical findings clearly to legal, technical, and non-technical audiences.\n\nSkills & Qualifications\nRequired\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.\n\nActive Professional Engineer (PE) license.\n\nExpert witness experience, including depositions, arbitration, and/or trial testimony, with experience preparing expert reports and working directly with attorneys on litigation, claims, disputes, and other legal matters.\n\n10+ years of Electrical Engineering experience, including forensic consulting, engineering design, project management, operations, and/or expert advisory work.\n\nExperience investigating electrical failures, equipment malfunctions, construction defects, operational incidents, and complex engineering disputes.\n\nStrong technical expertise in electrical power systems, power distribution and controls, instrumentation and control (I&C) systems, and electrical failure analysis.\n\nExcellent communication skills with the ability to prepare defensible technical reports and present complex engineering findings to attorneys, clients, arbitrators, and other stakeholders.\n\nAbility to travel regularly throughout the year for site inspections, client meetings, depositions, arbitrations, and trial support, including occasional short-notice travel.\n\nPreferred\nMaster's degree in Electrical Engineering.\n\nMulti-state PE licensure.\n\nAdditional experience serving as an expert witness or providing forensic engineering, claims, dispute resolution, and litigation consulting services.\n\nSignificant design or project management experience in one or more of the following industries:\nSolar photovoltaic (PV) and renewable energy systems\n\nUtility generation, transmission, distribution, and substations\n\nPower generation facilities and power plants\n\nData centers and mission-critical facilities\n\nTransportation and infrastructure projects\n\nHeavy industrial, manufacturing, or process facilities\n\n---\nWhat we offer:\nAt HKA we recognize that our people are critical to our ongoing success.
