Reporting to the Senior Information Technology Manager (Student Information Systems), the appointee will play a crucial role in the development, maintenance, and support of the Student Information Systems, as well as other initiatives and projects that emerge from the University's digital transformation journey.\nResponsibilities:\nDevelop, enhance, and provide support to existing systems and applications (Java/Web/Client Server);\nParticipate in all stages of the system development life cycle, including requirements analysis and design, system development, testing, implementation;\nPrepare comprehensive system specifications and maintain accurate documentation;\nCreate testing plans and ensure deliverables are of high quality and adhere to guidelines;\nProvide technical expertise and support to end-users;\nCollaborate with other IT teams, vendors, and system implementers;\nAssist in the evaluation and selection of new technologies, software, and hardware to meet evolving business needs;\nTroubleshoot and resolve system issues, ensuring timely and effective resolutions; and\nPerform other IT projects and assignments as assigned.\nRequirements:\nA bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or related discipline;\nMinimum of 5 years or above of post-qualification experience in application development;\nAt least 3 years of experience as a Systems Analyst with application development expertise;\nExcellent skills and experience in:PowerBuilder development (experience with PFC is a plus);\nJava/JEE development, including EJB technologies, JSF, AJAX, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and modern frameworks such as React, and Node.js;\nFrontend and web development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP;\nDatabase development: SQL, PL/SQL, and working with RDBMS such as Sybase, MySQL, and MSSQL;\nScripting and automation using Linux/Unix shell scripting;\nAdministration and deployment on enterprise web application servers, specifically IBM WebSphere Server and Oracle WebLogic Server;\nMigrating and refactoring Java/JEE applications between web application servers, particularly from IBM WebSphere to Oracle WebLogic;\nFamiliarity with API management tools (e.g., Boomi) is an advantage;\n\nPrior experience with student information systems will be highly desirable;\nSelf-starter and results-oriented, with strong business acumen; and\nAbility to work well in a team environment while also being capable of working independently. \nShortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.\nThe initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two and a half years.\nSalary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.\nApplication Procedure:\nApplicants are invited to submit their applications at the HKBU e-Recruitment System.
