This role is pivotal in leading complex architectural projects from concept through completion. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of the design and construction process, strong client relationship skills, and a track record of successful team leadership and project delivery.\nAs a Project Manager, you will oversee day-to-day project operations, guide multidisciplinary teams, manage consultant coordination, and ensure high-quality outcomes that align with client goals, budget parameters, and HLW’s design standards. You will serve as the primary client contact and lead the strategic execution of projects, managing scope, schedules, and financial performance while mentoring internal staff.\nJob Responsibilities \nClient & Project Leadership\nAct as the primary point of contact for clients, cultivating long-term relationships through proactive communication and reliable project delivery.\nLead the development of comprehensive project execution plans, including scope definition, scheduling, resource allocation, and fee structuring.\nDrive project pursuits and proposal efforts, including the preparation of qualifications, fee proposals, and negotiation of contract terms in coordination with firm leadership.\nRepresent HLW in client presentations, stakeholder meetings, and public forums, exemplifying the firm’s dedication to design excellence and strategic partnership.\nContinuously nurture client relationships to support ongoing collaboration, repeat engagements, and broader business development initiatives.\nProject Management & Execution\nManage all phases of project delivery, from planning and design through documentation, bidding, and construction administration.\nOversee internal project teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure alignment with design intent, schedule milestones, and contractual obligations.\nTrack deliverables, decisions, and project issues; facilitate resolution and ensure timely documentation.\nConduct on-site observations, review submittals and RFIs, and monitor construction progress to ensure quality and compliance.\nFinancial Oversight\nManage project budgets, forecasts, and profitability with support from HLW’s finance team.\nReview and approve invoices, manage change orders, and ensure financial accountability throughout the project lifecycle.\nTeam Leadership & Coordination\nManage project schedules, budgets, and work plans, ensuring cost control and timely completion.\nLead internal and external project team meetings, fostering collaboration and efficiency.\nCoordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams to align project goals and expectations.\nEnsure project quality control reviews are conducted in coordination with the Studio Technical Director.\nGuide and mentor junior architects and project team members to support professional growth.\nRole Qualifications\nEducation & Licensure\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or related field.\nLicensed Architect preferred (U.S. registration).\nLEED AP, WELL AP, CPHD, or other sustainability credentials preferred.\nExperience\n10 - 20 years of progressively responsible experience in architectural practice, including at least 5 years in a project management role.\nProven success managing large, complex projects across multiple typologies (commercial, workplace, institutional, etc.).\nExperience working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary design environment.\nTechnical Skills\nProficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and presentation tools.\nFamiliarity with Deltek, Microsoft Project, OneNote, Excel, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and Newforma, and other project management platforms a plus.\nSolid understanding of local building codes, zoning regulations, ADA requirements, and construction processes.\nProfessional Competencies\nStrong leadership, decision-making, and organizational skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and lead diverse teams with clarity and empathy.\nEntrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.\nLeadership & Management:\nSignificant experience in a senior managerial role across a variety of project types and procurement methods.\nProven ability to manage and mentor staff across multiple projects.\nExcellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.\nAbility to multitask, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines, track and follow-through on issues.\nFinancial & Business Development:\nExperience in budgeting and financial management, including managing income against expenses.\nAbility and willingness to work in an entrepreneurial manner to expand HLW’s practice.\nWhy Join Us?
