For more information, visit www.hmhco.com\nTechnical Infrastructure\nCloud & Infrastructure: AWS EC2, Terraform Enterprise, Docker, Aurora, Kubernetes, ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash & Kibana).\nObservability & Automation: Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, Telegraf, Apollo, GraphQL.\nDevelopment Stack: Microservices architecture, Spring, Java, NodeJS, React, Express.js.\nData & Storage: Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, Postgres, Oracle, MySQL, InfluxDB, Linux, GitHub.\nAI & Agentic Automation: AWS Bedrock LLMs, Agentic AI frameworks, AI-assisted platform engineering.\nAbout the role\nYou will constantly be asking, what are the most important platform and infrastructure challenges we need to solve today that will improve the reliability, scalability, security, and developer experience of HMH's engineering organization.\nDefine the technical vision and architecture for HMH's DevOps and platform engineering capabilities.\nLead cross-functional initiatives spanning cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, security, and developer platforms.\nDrive AI-enhanced DevOps automation through autonomous agents and intelligent operational workflows.\nPartner with Engineering, Architecture, Security, SRE, and Product teams to establish reusable platform capabilities and engineering standards.\nEvaluate emerging technologies and influence long-term technology strategy.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the design and evolution of cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).\nDefine reusable platform patterns, golden paths, and self-service developer capabilities.\nOwn architecture decisions for Infrastructure patterns, CI/CD, Kubernetes platforms, observability, secrets management, and cloud governance.\nDrive improvements in reliability, scalability, resiliency, security, and cloud cost optimization.\nLead major production incident reviews and drive long-term architectural improvements.\nMentor Senior Engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams.\nEstablish engineering standards, best practices, and reference architectures.\nDesign and implement AI-enabled operational workflows using AWS Bedrock and agentic technologies.\nSkills & Experience\n8+ years of hands-on DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering experience in Agile environments.\nExpert knowledge of AWS architecture and cloud-native design patterns.\nDeep expertise with Terraform, CloudFormation, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD platforms.\nExperience designing highly available, large-scale distributed systems.\nStrong expertise with observability platforms including Datadog, Grafana, and Prometheus.\nStrong understanding of networking, IAM, cloud security, secrets management, and governance.\nProven ability to influence engineering organizations without formal authority.\nExcellent communication, architecture, and mentoring skills.\nPreferred Skills and Interests\nPlatform Engineering and Internal Developer Platforms.\nGitHub Actions platform architecture and developer experience.\nAWS Bedrock, Agentic AI, and AI-assisted software delivery.\nOpenTelemetry, FinOps, Policy as Code, and Chaos Engineering.\nExperience leading organization-wide technical transformation initiatives.\nThe Information Technology organization is transforming to realize our mission: Become a leader in HMH’s digital transformation, and as a strategic partner, innovate and deliver highest value, competitive advantage solutions across all corporate and business functions.
