Responsible for assisting in the compliance and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, specifications, and other contract documents for assigned projects. Leverages technical knowledge to assist in the review and interpretation of construction drawings, specifications, and construction reports.\nResponsible for reviewing RFIs, Change Orders, and Submittals.\nThis position is for an EIT in the San Antonio Area. This position may require you to perform inspection/engineering services in the following 12 counties: Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Guadalupe, Kendall, Kerr, McMullen, Medina, Uvalde, and Wilson. Work assignments may include work with TxDOT, VIA, City and County entities.\nWork for this position does not include remote work. This position is in-person.\nConstruction inspection work will include night work and weekend work.\nWhat You'll Do:\nAssists with and monitors construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans and specifications. Reads, comprehends, and checks for compliance with applicable contract documents.\nPerforms or observes on-site material testing. Reviews plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities), pricing of materials, etc. and ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.\nRead and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.\nReviews contractor’s daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency. Regularly reviews contractor's as-built mark-ups, documents project progress using video and photos.\nConsults with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommends solutions, assists in the resolution of issues, and acts as a liaison with the engineer of record.\nRemains current and knowledgeable of industry technology and tools used to perform inspection work through industry resources, training, and research. Gains exposure to new technology and utilizes it (GPS/Rovers) to increase efficiency and accuracy of inspection tasks.\nPerforms office engineer work when needed including but not limited to; prepares meeting agendas and meeting minutes, assists in processing and maintains tracking logs for RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and other deliverables.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nWhat You'll Need:\nBachelor's degree in Engineering and 2 years relevant experience, or\nMaster's degree in Engineering and 1 year relevant experience, or\nDoctorate degree in Engineering.\nWhat You'll Bring:\nIdentifies complex discrepancies or conflicts within documents and evaluating the quality of work performed by using inspection checklists.\nPerforms increasingly complex calculations, develops plots and graphs using Excel, and drafts detailed reports for project reporting to the client with guidance from more experienced staff.\nPerforms basic shop drawing and submittal review and evaluates the contractor's CPM schedule.\nWrites daily inspection report, tracks work performed, and computes pay item quantities at a basic level with direction from more experienced staff.\nUnderstands the shop drawing review and gains the ability to read and interpret the contractor's CPM schedule at a basic level.\nWhat We Prefer:\nEngineer in Training (EIT), or American Concrete Institute (ACI).\nTrained in digital construction management software such as Constructware, Asite or similar preferred.\nTxDOT or CEI experience.\nSite Manager experience.\nAPCM experience.\nAutoDesk Construction Cloud (ACC) experience.\nProcore experience.\nACI and Level 1B certifications\nExperience addressing RFIs ,COs, and Submittals\nAdditional Information\nClick here for benefits information: HNTB Total Rewards\nClick here to learn more about Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran\nVisa sponsorship is not available for this position.#AR.\nLocations:\nSan Antonio, TX (McAllister Freeway).\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\nNOTICE TO THIRD-PARTY AGENCIES:\nHNTB does not accept unsolicited resumes from recruiters or agencies.
