The Construction Rep applies construction engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assignments and assist the Resident Engineer in partnership with the project team. This position maintains project data, including drawings and specifications, coordinates testing and quality control inspections and prepares reports on construction progress.\nPreferred experience with CTDOT and/or Metro-North Railroad projects which may include inspection of highway, drainage, bridge, rail, track, Overhead Contact System (OCS) and/or other inspections associated with various transportation projects.\nWhat You'll Do:\nPerforms office management engineer work when needed including but not limited to; prepares documentation for change orders, reviews change order scope of work, schedule and cost, processes and maintains tracking logs for RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and other deliverables. Assists in constructability reviews.\nInspects, monitors, and oversees construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans and specifications. Reads, interprets, and confirms compliance with applicable contract documents.\nPerforms or oversees on-site material testing. Reviews plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities). Responsible for the tracking of item quantities and preparing pay estimates and ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.\nInitiates field changes to drawings and specifications and identifies discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.\nReviews contractor’s daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency.\nResponsible for maintaining as-constructed drawings and monitors contractors progress to analyze against progress schedule.\nConsults with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommends solutions, assists in the resolution of issues, and acts as a liaison with the engineer of record.\nRemains current and knowledgeable of industry technology and tools used to perform inspection work through industry resources, training, and research. Gains exposure to new technology and utilizes it (GPS/Rovers) to increase efficiency and accuracy of inspection tasks.\nMentors and trains staff.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nWhat You'll Need:\nAssociates degree in relevant field and 6 years relevant experience, or\nBachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field and 4 years relevant experience.\nWhat You'll Bring:\nPreferred experience with CTDOT and/or Metro-North Railroad projects which may include inspection of highway, drainage, bridge, rail, track, Overhead Contact System (OCS) and/or other inspections associated with various transportation projects.\nIdentifies and resolves issues with basic change conditions with oversight from the project engineer.\nDevelops working relationships with agency staff and stakeholders.\nOperates relevant testing equipment as needed for the project.\nUnderstands Microsoft Office Suite and computer skills at an advanced level. \nUnderstands document control for the project (i.e., materials documentation of RFI, contractor payment, contractor employment records) at an advanced level with oversight from more experienced staff.\nWhat We Prefer:\nEngineer-in-Training (EIT), Construction Manager-in-Training (CMIT), Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) Level 1-A and 1-B, or American Concrete Institute (ACI) Certifications.\nOSHA 30 certified preferred.\nAgency safety training certified preferred.\nTrained in digital construction management software such as COMPASS, AASHTOWare or similar preferred\nAdditional Information\nClick here for benefits information: HNTB Total Rewards\nClick here to learn more about Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran\nVisa sponsorship is not available for this position.#RV.\nLocations:\nRocky Hill, CT (Hartford).\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\n.\nThe approximate pay range for Connecticut is $91,710.82 - $143,445.15.
