This is a hybrid position, with on-site presence required Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in an HOK office. Office locations include Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, St. Louis, or Tampa. \nAs a Project Accountant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely accounting for assigned projects. You’ll work closely with Project Managers and Finance leadership to support project setup, billing, reporting, financial analysis and revenue recognition. \nKey responsibilities include:\nPreparing monthly invoices, budgets, and project management reports\nSetting up and maintaining projects in the accounting system in accordance with contract terms\nTracking and inputting project budgets and financial data\nReviewing project cost reports and meeting with Project Managers and Finance leadership to assess status, profitability, and costs\nManaging consultant invoice processing and communication\nReviewing project contracts and financial requirements\nAssisting with revenue recognition and monthly earnings analysis\nResponding to inquiries from staff, vendors, and clients regarding financial matters\nAnalyze project cost reports and meet frequently with Project Managers and Finance Director to review invoicing, profitability, earnings, cost and cash flow\nProviding general accounting support as needed\nSupporting sustainability initiatives through green workplace practices\nWho is the ideal candidate for this role?\nWe are seeking a Project Accountant with demonstrated knowledge of project accounting principles and practices, particularly within the architecture, design, or construction industries. The ideal candidate will be able to oversee multiple large, complex projects and experience recognizing revenue. This candidate will be able to successfully provide in-depth financial analysis to Project Managers and other stakeholders as necessary, identify and mitigate risks and develop financial strategies. \nThe most successful candidates will demonstrate advanced knowledge of project accounting skills, including a background in revenue recognition. Candidates will be able to demonstrate exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—and be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills, is essential. Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or a similar project accounting software is also required. \nWhat kind of education and experience are required?\nA bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required, though a combination of relevant education and experience will also be considered. Candidates should have 2 to 4 years of experience in project accounting, with prior experience in an architecture firm strongly preferred.\nCompensation Expectations\nCompensation is based on experience, qualifications, education, and location. The reasonably expected salary range for this position across our target hiring locations is $58,000 - $88,000. Other compensation may include a discretionary bonus.\nGeographic pay differentials apply depending on where the candidate resides and works.
