You’ll work across a varied mix of building forensics, façade investigations, technical due diligence, external wall assessments and expert witness-related instructions, helping clients understand complex building issues and make informed decisions about their assets.\nThis is an opportunity to apply your technical expertise across different projects, property types and service lines. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across Building Forensics, Building Safety & Fire and our wider multidisciplinary business, contributing specialist advice from early investigation and diagnosis through to remediation.\nAt Hollis, you’ll be trusted to take ownership of your work, share your ideas and continue developing your expertise. You’ll join a supportive One Team culture where knowledge is shared openly and specialists work together to deliver practical, commercially focused advice.\nThe role\nYou’ll support and lead façade engineering commissions across Building Forensics, Technical Due Diligence, dilapidations, building safety, expert witness and litigation support work. Combining site-based investigation with detailed technical analysis, you’ll help clients understand façade performance, identify defects and determine practical next steps.\nYour responsibilities will include:\nUndertaking façade inspections, condition surveys and intrusive investigations to diagnose defects and establish likely causes.\n\nReviewing façade designs, specifications, construction details, testing evidence and compliance documentation.\n\nAssessing external wall systems, including cladding, insulation, fire stopping and cavity barriers, and advising on remediation strategies.\n\nProviding façade and building envelope expertise across forensic investigations, Technical Due Diligence and wider consultancy instructions.\n\nSupporting expert witness and litigation-related appointments through clear technical analysis, evidence review and reporting.\n\nPreparing high-quality technical reports, remediation recommendations and practical advice for clients.\n\nManaging multiple commissions while maintaining technical quality, responsive client service and commercial awareness.\n\nWorking collaboratively across Hollis and contributing to technical excellence, knowledge sharing and the growth of our façade engineering offering.\n\nAbout you\nYou’ll be an experienced Façade Engineer or building envelope professional who enjoys investigating complex building issues and turning detailed findings into clear, practical advice. You’ll be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, managing competing priorities and building trusted client relationships.\nWe’re looking for someone with:\nAround five to eight years’ experience in façade engineering, building envelope consultancy or a related discipline.\n\nA degree in Façade Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Surveying or another relevant subject.\n\nStrong technical knowledge of façade systems, including rainscreen cladding, curtain walling, external wall insulation, masonry façades and roofing interfaces.\n\nExperience undertaking façade inspections, defect investigations, technical assessments and cause analysis.\n\nExperience reviewing drawings, specifications, testing evidence and construction documentation.\n\nA good understanding of UK Building Regulations, CWCT guidance, British Standards and relevant industry good practice.\n\nStrong report writing, analytical and communication skills, alongside commercial awareness and client-facing consultancy experience.\n\nChartered status, or progress towards an appropriate professional qualification such as CEng, MSFE, MCIBSE or MRICS, although equivalent professional experience will also be considered.\n\nExperience in remediation, building safety or fire-related façade investigations would be particularly valuable. Exposure to Technical Due Diligence, forensic investigations, disputes or expert witness work would also be advantageous, but is not essential. A full UK driving licence is desirable due to the site-based elements of the role.\nOur preference is to recruit directly wherever possible.
