This role will manage and support cross-functional project teams within a matrixed organization, helping to ensure that project objectives, timelines, risks, dependencies, and release activities are effectively planned, tracked, and communicated.\nThe successful candidate will work closely with software engineering, software verification, product management, quality, regulatory, and other functional partners to support project execution, Engineering Change Request processes, and release readiness. This role requires strong organization, communication, follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while escalating issues appropriately.\nThe Program Manager will work on-site in Hologic’s San Diego office 5 days per week.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nThe incumbent may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the below-mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs.\nKey Responsibilities:\nManage small- to medium-sized software projects or defined workstreams within larger programs from initial scoping and planning through release.\nLead the development and maintenance of project plans, schedules, milestones, deliverables, and resource assumptions.\nCoordinate cross-functional project activities to ensure alignment across all team members, functional leaders, and stakeholders.\nTrack project status, risks, issues, action items, dependencies, and decisions; provide timely updates to project teams and management.\nSupport the Engineering Change Request process by coordinating inputs, tracking approvals, and helping ensure required documentation and deliverables are completed.\nFacilitate release planning and release readiness activities, including coordination of required reviews, documentation, approvals, and cross-functional handoffs.\nAssist with identifying project risks and issues, supporting mitigation planning, and escalating concerns to management or senior program leaders as appropriate.\nMaintain accurate project documentation, meeting notes, schedules, dashboards, and status reports.\nHelp ensure project execution is aligned with applicable internal processes, quality system requirements, and product development procedures.\nSupport continuous improvement of development and project management practices, templates, tools, and team communication processes.\nLeadership and Management:\nHelp drive accountability for assigned tasks, deliverables, and timelines.\nFacilitate project team meetings, communicate expectations, document decisions, and follow up on action items.\nBuild effective working relationships with team members and stakeholders across functional areas.\nUse a collaborative approach to resolve day-to-day project challenges and escalate complex issues appropriately.\nDemonstrate ownership of assigned projects while operating with guidance from management when needed.\nCommunication and Interpersonal Skills:\nCommunicate project status, risks, issues, and decisions clearly and accurately to team members and stakeholders.\nFacilitate effective information flow across internal teams involved in software development, change control, and release activities.\nDemonstrate strong meeting facilitation, follow-up, and documentation skills.\nWork effectively in a matrixed environment with engineering, quality, regulatory, product, operations, and business stakeholders.\nUse sound judgment to determine when issues require escalation or additional leadership support.\nMaintain a professional, collaborative, and solutions-oriented communication style.\nProject Execution and Problem-Solving:\nApply foundational project management practices to support successful execution of software projects.\nIdentify project risks, dependencies, and blockers, and support development of mitigation or recovery plans.\nSupport decision-making by gathering information, organizing options, and communicating trade-offs and impacts to project teams and management.\nDemonstrate attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple project activities in a fast-paced environment.\nQualifications\nDemonstrated capability to apply project management principles, tools, and techniques.\nFamiliarity with stage-gate product development and software development lifecycle preferred.\nFamiliarity with Engineering Change Request and design control processes preferred.\nAbility to manage project schedules, action items, risks, issues, and cross-functional communications.\nStrong organizational, follow-up, and documentation skills.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.\nAbility to operate with moderate supervision, escalating risks, issues, and decisions when appropriate.\nFamiliarity with ISO and FDA quality system regulations preferred.\nEducation\nBS degree in Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field required.\nProject Management coursework or certification strongly desired (e.g., CAPM, PMP)\nExperience\nMinimum of 2-5 years of experience in project management, software project coordination, or a related functional role with project-planning and project-leadership experience.\nExperience coordinating software development projects or software-related product release activities.\nExperience coordinating cross-functional teams and tracking project deliverables, timelines, risks, and issues.\nExperience with Design Control strongly preferred.\nExperience in a regulated environment, including medical device, diagnostics, healthcare, or life sciences, preferred.\nThe annualized base salary range for this role is $125,100 - $195,500 and is bonus eligible.
