At the core of every system is proprietary software that determines how each driver in an array must behave to create the intended sound field.\nOur Research team advances both the software and the acoustic theory and modeling that underpin HOLOPLOT technology. As demand for innovation and product development grows, we are expanding the team to increase our capacity for research-led innovation. This role will help drive new product concepts, features, intellectual property, and the longer-term technical direction of our systems.\nYou’ll collaborate closely with our senior engineers while taking a leading role in HOLOPLOT’s core acoustic engine and the software and algorithmic work that shapes it. From the outset, you’ll contribute to internal tools, run and validate optimizations, and drive improvements with clear ownership, growing autonomy, and direct impact on our core systems' performance.\nMain objectives of the role\nFrom week one, you’ll collaborate as a technical peer with senior engineers and lead projects that have a direct impact on our products. Over your first 6-12 months, you’ll build toward co-ownership of core components of the HOLOPLOT acoustic engine, its software and the workflows behind it, helping shape technical decisions, validation methods and future development. We’re looking for someone who works autonomously, brings scientific rigor to numerical challenges and is driven to understand not just whether a solution works, but why.Your role and responsibilities\nDevelop and maintain our proprietary beamforming and array optimization algorithms.\n\nDevelop and maintain our proprietary system design and configuration software.\n\nEvaluate beam optimizations for products and customer projects, and validate results against simulations and measurements.\n\nDesign and implement linear (FIR/IIR) and frequency-domain DSP methods.\n\nDevelop non-linear DSP algorithms, such as peak/thermal limiters tailored for amplifier and driver protection.\n\nPlan and run acoustic measurements to verify array modeling and feed data back into models.\n\nSupport sound system design work when projects need fine-tuning and optimization expertise.\n\nImprove code quality, testing and automation, including using AI-assisted development tools.\n\nWrite clear technical reports and documentation so knowledge is shared across the team.\n\nContribute ideas to patent applications and research topics as you grow into the domain.\n\nWhat you need to succeed in this role\nDegree (MSc or PhD preferred) in acoustics, audio engineering, electrical engineering, physics or a related field.\n\nStrong MATLAB skills for numerical simulation and optimization, with clean, maintainable code.\n\nSolid grounding in audio DSP\n\nUnderstanding of nonlinear signal-processing techniques and transducer modeling.\n\nWorking knowledge of array signal processing, beamforming or sound field control.\n\nUnderstanding of general and room acoustics.\n\nAbility to explain technical results clearly in writing and in conversation or presentation.\n\nNice to haves\nExperience with numerical optimization methods.\n\nWave field synthesis, Ambisonics or other spatial audio techniques.\n\nAcoustic simulation tools (EASE, BEM/FEM, or similar).\n\nPython, version control and automated testing.\n\nA professional audio or live sound background, plus strong critical listening skills.\n\nExposure to patent work or scientific publishing.\n\nHands-on experience with audio measurement systems (e.g. Klippel, Audio Precision, REW).\n\nWe offer you\nAt HOLOPLOT we work in a flexible hybrid setup with trust-based working hours, giving you the freedom to organise your day in a way that supports focus, deep work and balance.
