Acting as the organisation’s “eyes and ears” in the field, the Field Care Supervisor ensures clients’ needs are fully met while Care Professionals feel confident, competent, supported, and valued in their roles.\nThe Field Care Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining quality, safety, and consistency of care delivery, supporting staff development and retention, and working closely with the Care Manager to ensure a positive experience for both clients and Care Pros.\nKey Responsibilities\nSupporting Quality Care in the Field\nProvide visible support to Care Pros working in the community\nMonitor the quality of care delivered to clients through observation, spot checks, and direct engagement\nEnsure care is delivered in line with care plans, risk assessments, and organisational standards\nAct promptly on any concerns relating to care quality, client wellbeing, or safety, escalating appropriately\nCompetency Assessment, Training & Development\nCarry out competency assessments and signoffs in line with policy and best practice, including (but not limited to):\nMedication administration\nMoving and handling\nCatheter care\nAny additional specialist competencies required\nHold and maintain relevant assessor qualifications to carry out competency signoffs safely and effectively\nWork closely with the Care Manager and the Trainer to support learning, development, and ongoing competence\nIdentify training needs through field observation, provide feedback and contribute to Care Pro development plans\nCare Professional Support, Mentoring & Retention\nProvide mentoring and reassurance to Care Pros in the field\nSupport Care Pros to build confidence, skills, and professionalism\nAct as a trusted point of contact for Care Pros, listening to concerns and providing guidance\nContribute to improved staff engagement and retention through consistent support and relationship-building\nDelivering Care Where Required\nDeliver care directly to clients where required, including:\nProviding cover in emergency or short-notice situations\nSupporting assessments, reviews, or transitions\nRole-model best practice in person-centred care\nSupporting the Operations Team\nBuild and maintain positive relationships with clients, their families and other professionals involved in their care.\nConduct Service Reviews and Quality Assurance calls and manage follow up actions\nCreate, maintain and audit digital client care plans and risk assessments\nSupport the Care Manager by identifying changes in client needs, risks, or opportunities for improvement\nGovernance, Safety & Professional Practice\nMaintain accurate, timely records of competency assessments, observations, and actions taken\nFollow safeguarding, incident reporting, and escalation procedures\nComply with relevant legislation, regulatory standards, and internal policies\nAct in line with organisational values, professionalism, and ethical standards\nReporting & Working Relationships\nDirect reporting line: Registered Care Manager\nLine manager to Care Professionals\nThis document describes the general nature and level of work for the position.
