This role leads the design and implementation of real-time software controlling robot motion, navigation, sensing, communications, safety systems, and hardware integration.\nThe Embedded Software Principle serves as the technical authority for embedded systems within the robotics organization and works closely with Robotics, Controls, Electrical, Mechanical, Software Platform, QA, and Product teams to ensure reliable operation in demanding warehouse and industrial environments.\nThe ideal candidate combines deep expertise in embedded systems with practical experience deploying and supporting mobile robotic platforms in production environments.\nKey Responsibilities\nTechnical Leadership\nDefine and maintain the embedded software architecture for robotic platforms.\nEstablish engineering standards, coding guidelines, testing requirements, and development processes.\nLead technical design reviews and architecture discussions.\nMentor embedded software engineers and provide technical guidance.\nDrive technical decision-making across robotics and platform initiatives.\nCollaborate with Product Management and Engineering leadership on technology roadmaps.\nEmbedded Software Development\nDesign, develop, and maintain embedded software running on robotic platforms.\nDevelop software for:Robot motion control and navigation systems\nSensor fusion\nPower management\nCommunications\nDiagnostics\nSafety systems\n\nImplement robust and maintainable software using modern engineering practices.\nOptimize software performance for real-time and resource-constrained environments.\nMobile Robotics Systems\nDevelop software supporting autonomous robot operation in warehouse and industrial environments.\nSupport integration of:Lidar systems\nCameras\nIMUs\nOTA Updates\nSafety sensors\nMotor controllers\nBattery management systems\nWireless communication systems (4g)\n\nCollaborate with robotics engineers on navigation and autonomy features.\nSupport fleet-scale deployment and operational reliability.\nHardware Integration\nPartner with Electrical and Mechanical Engineering teams during hardware development.\nDevelop drivers and interfaces for embedded peripherals and custom hardware.\nParticipate in board bring-up and hardware validation activities.\nDiagnose and resolve hardware/software integration issues.\nSupport prototype development and production releases.\nReliability & Functional Safety\nDesign and implement software operating under real-time constraints.\nDesign systems with fault tolerance and graceful degradation capabilities.\nImplement monitoring, diagnostics, and recovery mechanisms.\nSupport safety-related development activities.\nConduct failure mode analysis and risk assessments.\nEnsure operational robustness in production environments.\nVerification & Validation\nDefine testing strategies for embedded systems.\nSupport automated testing and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) validation.\nPartner with QA and Simulation teams to validate robotic behavior.\nDevelop tools to improve testability and diagnostics.\nParticipate in release certification activities.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related field.\n8+ years of embedded software development experience.\n3+ years of technical leadership or lead engineering experience.\nExperience developing software for mobile robotic systems.\nStrong proficiency in C and C++.\nExperience with embedded Linux systems.\nExperience debugging hardware/software interactions.\nStrong understanding of real-time systems and concurrency.\nExperience with software architecture and system design.\nExperience working with an RTOS.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).\nExperience in warehouse automation, logistics, industrial automation, or autonomous vehicles.\nFamiliarity with navigation, localization, and sensor fusion concepts.\nExperience with safety-critical or mission-critical systems.\nExperience supporting deployed robotic fleets.\nExperience working in Agile development environments.\nExperience working with Zephyr RTOS &
