We’d love to talk.\nWho you are:\nAs an Underwriter, you'll play a critical role in Hometap's home equity investment process, making recommendations on both the homes and the homeowners we work with. You'll analyze a broad set of home and homeowner information to assess the risk profile of each application and make investment eligibility recommendations against the standards in our underwriting guidelines. This is a strong fit if you bring underwriting experience, a passion for real estate, and exceptional organizational skills.\nWhat you'll do:\nWork closely with our Sales and Processing teams to review homeowner applications quickly and accurately\nEvaluate applicant and property information against our underwriting criteria, confirm the application is complete, and make informed investment recommendations\nReview and analyze appraisal reports for accuracy and compliance with guidelines, evaluating comparables, market trends, and property conditions to confirm value is supported\nFlag applications that raise concerns around completeness or risk\nDetermine eligibility amounts based on your analysis of applicant and property information\nCollaborate with a cross-functional team of Sales and Operations associates to complete each application review\nWhat you bring:\nPrior underwriting experience\nSharp attention to detail in a fast-paced environment, including strong proofreading and fact-checking skills\nStrong judgment, with comfort making recommendations against a rules rubric and escalating issues and questions as needed\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\nComfort handling multiple responsibilities and staying proactive under deadlines\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with a client-oriented approach\nAn interest in real estate and fintech, and excitement about joining a growing tech company\nBachelor's degree preferred, ideally in business, finance, or a related field\nThe base salary for this role is $75,000 with additional earning potential through a performance-based monthly incentive.
