You will be responsible for providing technical expertise, guidance, and mentorship to the mechanical design team, ensuring the successful execution of projects and the delivery of high-quality designs.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign and analysis (thermal, structural, weight, tolerance) using finite element analysis and classical hand calculation methods\nProvide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to junior engineers\nTask and schedule planning as lead for mechanical design, tooling, and documentation\nProject coordination\nProject and product compliance to specification, schedule, and cost\nCollaborate with and/or direct machinists, technicians, assemblers, and suppliers to execute hardware builds and tests\nProcess development and continuous improvement\nRoot cause and corrective action\nConduct design reviews, generate and review Engineering Change Orders (ECO), participate as a member of Configuration Control Board (CCB)\nGenerate basis of estimates for bids and technical proposals\nYOU MUST HAVE\nBachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics\nMinimum of 8 years of experience designing and performing structural and thermo-mechanical analysis on electro-mechanical packaging\nProficiency in static, fatigue (HCF & LCF), modal, shock, random vibration & thermal heat transfer analyses\nStrong working knowledge of finite element software (ANSYS, Simcenter, SolidWorks) & classical hand calculation methods\nWE VALUE\nMinimum of 10 years of experience designing and performing structural and thermo-mechanical analysis on electro-mechanical packaging in aerospace and defense\nPractical knowledge of finite element analysis software (ANSYS, Simcenter, SolidWorks)\nAbility to lead, motivate, develop and mentor others\nSignificant experience with new product development and operations sustainment\nAbility to analyze and solve complex and challenging problems\nSelf-motivated individuals\nEffectively operate in a matrix organization\nTrack record of successful contribution to products and projects\nKeen mindset to envision process improvements and execution of such initiatives\nAbility to consistently make timely decisions in a fast-paced and/or ambiguous environment\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills \nUS PERSONS REQUIREMENT\nDue to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.\nThe annual base salary range for this position in California is $143,000-158,000.
