As a Software Engineer I, you will design, implement, and test software components that support critical aerospace systems. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure high-quality, reliability, and maintainable software. This role requires solid technical fundamentals, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to work both independently and within structured development and verification processes.

You will report directly to our Software Engineering Manager and work from our Clearwater, FL location, with a hybrid work option available after an initial 90-day period.

As a senior technical authority, you will drive innovation, quality, and performance in our software infrastructure, setting industry benchmarks and empowering us for a digitally transformative future.

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintainability of robust software architectures and applications that support automated test stations, ensuring reliability, modularity, and alignment with system-level requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to translate system requirements into well-defined software specifications and contribute to ongoing improvements in performance, usability, and integration.
  • Work with industry-standard avionics and communication interfaces, such as ARINC 429, IEEE-1394, MIL-STD-1553, UART, RS-422, and fiber-optic-based systems.
  • Develop clear and comprehensive software documentation, including user guides, technical specifications, design records, and release notes, supporting maintainability and compliance.
  • Write clean, maintainable code in multiple programming languages, with proficiency in object-oriented languages such as C++, and adherence to safe coding practices and standards.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 0-1 year of hands-on software development experience, contributing to the design, implementation, and testing of software components.
  • Basic understanding of software development and toolchains such as SVN or Git.
  • Proficiency in Visual Studio .NET development using C++ or C#.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration across multidisciplinary engineering, integration, and test teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

WE VALUE:

  • Advance Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is a plus
  • Internship or co-op experience in aerospace software design
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMM), and digital/analog I/O instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems or hardware-software integration
  • Basic knowledge of Python, including developing automated scripts, tools, or test frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot hardware and/or software.
  • Self-motivated individuals who thrive under minimal supervision, consistently taking initiative, owning outcomes, and delivering results in fast-paced development and test environments.
  • Active U.S. Government security clearance (Secret or higher) is preferred; ability to obtain and maintain a clearance is required based on program needs.
