The role reports within Design, Installations & Services Engineering and manages a high-performing engineering team delivering new product introduction, product sustainment, technology maturation, and mechanical design excellence for rotating electrical machines. Employees are located at 3 sites in North America, Torrance, CA, Phoenix, AZ and Mexicali, MX. Up to 25% travel is expected to support the team.\n Responsibilities\nLeadership\nOwn and drive mechanical design strategy, standards, and execution for all PGM hardware (rotors, stators, housings, bearings, cooling features, structural elements).\nEnsure team is equipped for conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases ensuring compliance with performance, durability, manufacturability, cost, and certification requirements.\nEnsure your team can provide expert guidance on complex mechanical challenges, failure investigations, and RCCA activity.\nProgram & Product Execution\nLead mechanical work scope and cost estimates for new generator/motor development, major redesigns, and advanced technology demonstrators.\nEnsure and maintain alignment with key stakeholders across global teams.\nDrive timely delivery of models, drawings, design analyses, and configuration releases supporting program schedules.\nPeople Leadership\nManage, coach, and develop a global team of mechanical design engineers, building succession pipelines and ensuring strong technical capability growth.\nPromote Honeywell Mechanical Design excellence and digital engineering adoption across the team.\nConduct performance management, staffing planning, labor forecasting, and resource allocation across multiple programs.\nCross-Functional & Strategic Contributions\nPartner closely with Power Systems and ISC leadership on generator/motor technology direction and investment priorities.\nInfluence enterprise standards for CAD modeling, GD&T, design rules, and advanced design tools.\nSupport technology maturation initiatives such as parametric modeling, digital engineering workflows, and next-generation PGM architecture development.\nQuality, Compliance & Process Ownership\nEnsure compliance with ASME Y14.5, internal design standards, customer requirements, export regulations, and aerospace and Military certification requirements.\nDrive continuous improvement of design processes, templates, learning and development tools, and mechanical methodologies.\nChampion design governance through peer reviews, integration reviews, and hardware readiness checkpoints using digital and MBE tools.\n Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.\nMust Have\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related STEM field.\n10+ years of mechanical product development or production experience with rotating. electrical machines (generators/motors), propulsion or power systems.\nDemonstrated leadership of engineering teams and complex technical programs.\nExperience with Organizational change management, high-performance team development and multi-functional stakeholder organizations.\nStrong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills with ability to engage a wide variety of aerospace roles including chief engineers and executive leadership.\nWe Value\nExperience with digital engineering, parametric design, and advanced CAD toolchain development.\nAbout us:\nJoin a company that's reintroducing itself to the aviation community we've helped advance for more than a century.
