You will collaborate closely with optical, mechanical, electrical, software, and mission operations teams to deliver high-performance solutions that meet customer and mission requirements.\n Key Responsibilities\nSystems Engineering & Requirements Management\nDefine, analyze, and allocate system-level requirements for optical instruments and payloads. \nDevelop requirements traceability and verification strategies throughout the product lifecycle. \nManage technical baselines and configuration control activities. \nSupport system design reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and ORR. \nOptical Payload Development\nCollaborate with optical, electronics, and software teams to develop space-qualified optical instruments. \nAssess system performance budgets including optical, thermal, pointing, radiometric, and electrical performance. \nSupport instrument architecture trade studies and technology evaluations. \nContribute to optical payload integration and validation planning. \nVerification, Integration & Test\nDevelop verification and validation plans for complex optical systems. \nSupport integration activities, environmental qualification testing, and acceptance testing. \nAnalyze test results and ensure compliance with mission and customer requirements. \nCoordinate problem resolution and corrective actions during system integration and testing. \nSpace Mission Support\nContribute to mission concept development and operational planning. \nSupport spacecraft and payload interface definition activities. \nDevelop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs). \nParticipate in anomaly investigations and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities. \nCross-Functional Collaboration\nWork with program management, customers, suppliers, and partner organizations. \nSupport technical reviews and customer presentations. \nMentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices. \n YOU MUST HAVE\nBachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Systems Engineering, Physics, Optical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline. \nMinimum 2 years of experience in systems engineering, optical instrumentation, aerospace systems, or related technical fields. \nMinimum 2 years developing and managing system requirements and verification plans. \nMinimum 2 years Knowledge of systems engineering processes and product development lifecycles. \nMinimum 2 years Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams. \nEligibility to obtain and maintain Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and Contract Security Program clearances. \nWE VALUE\nExperience with space systems, spacecraft payloads, or optical instruments. \nKnowledge of imaging systems, spectrometers, laser systems, LIDAR, telescopes, or electro-optical payloads. \nExperience with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS or equivalent. \nFamiliarity with systems modeling tools such as MATLAB, STK, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), or SysML. \nKnowledge of environmental qualification standards and space industry practices. \nExperience supporting design reviews, integration, verification, and validation activities. \nFamiliarity with NASA, CSA, ESA, ECSS, or military aerospace standards. \nMaster's degree in a related technical discipline. \nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. \nAdditional Information\nThis is a full-time regular position. \nThis is an onsite role located in Kanata, Ontario. \nTravel may be required to customer sites, suppliers, or test facilities. \nParticipation in design reviews, integration campaigns, and qualification activities may be required. \nThe annual base salary range for this position is $90,000-$120,000 in Mississauga, Ontario.
