HonorBridge is a nonprofit, organ donation and tissue recovery organization serving North Carolina and Virginia.

At HonorBridge, our mission is to build connections that save and heal lives through organ and tissue donation. Every donation opportunity begins with a referral, a conversation, and a team member who recognizes the potential to create hope for patients waiting for a transplant.

We are seeking a Donor Services Center Coordinator to serve as one of the first points of contact in the donation process. This role combines clinical knowledge, critical thinking, communication, and compassion to ensure potential donor referrals are evaluated accurately and advanced efficiently.

If you're an EMT, Paramedic, LPN, or healthcare professional looking to apply your clinical knowledge in a meaningful way while making a direct impact on lives saved through donation, this may be the opportunity for you.

The Opportunity

The Donor Services Center Coordinator plays a critical role in identifying and evaluating potential organ, tissue, and eye donation opportunities.

As part of HonorBridge's 24/7 donation operations, you will receive referral calls, review medical information, conduct preliminary donor screening, communicate with healthcare professionals, and document case activity. Your work helps ensure every referral receives timely and appropriate evaluation while supporting healthcare partners, donor families, and HonorBridge's mission.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys balancing multiple priorities, and can apply clinical knowledge while remaining organized, detail-oriented, and service-focused.

Schedule and Location

  • Onsite position located in Winston-Salem, NC
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Night shift schedule (8:00 PM - 8:00 AM)
  • Rotating weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Receive and triage organ, tissue, and eye donation referrals from hospitals and healthcare partners.
  • Conduct preliminary donor screening by gathering and evaluating clinical information.
  • Apply knowledge of disease processes, medical terminology, and donor suitability criteria to assess donation opportunities.
  • Review electronic medical records and other clinical documentation to obtain information necessary for referral evaluation.
  • Identify opportunities that may be appropriate for organ, tissue, and eye donation.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with healthcare providers, medical examiners, coroners, investigators, funeral homes, and other external partners.
  • Obtain medicolegal releases as appropriate to support the donation process.
  • Notify HonorBridge clinical teams of potential and authorized donors in a timely manner.
  • Manage multiple active referrals while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
  • Complete all case documentation accurately and in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize donor management systems and multiple technology platforms simultaneously to support workflow and communication.
  • Maintain access to and utilize electronic medical record systems across partner hospitals.
  • Ensure confidentiality of donor, recipient, patient, and organizational information in accordance with HIPAA and HonorBridge policies.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives through accurate documentation, record maintenance, and process compliance.
  • Maintain an organized, professional, and efficient work environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training, education, and professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of HonorBridge's mission.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who combines clinical knowledge, strong communication skills, and sound judgment with a genuine passion for helping others.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a healthcare-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to three years of experience in a clinical environment such as EMT, Paramedic, LPN, patient care, emergency services, or a similar healthcare role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of disease processes and clinical information.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret medical and operational data.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize competing responsibilities.
  • Experience working with databases, electronic documentation systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to learn and navigate multiple software applications and technology platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy.
  • Commitment to the mission of organ and tissue donation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a healthcare call center or high-volume communication environment.
  • Experience reviewing medical records and conducting clinical screenings.
  • Familiarity with hospital electronic medical record systems.
  • Prior experience in organ donation, transplantation, emergency medicine, critical care, or related healthcare settings.
