This is a unique opportunity to combine clinical knowledge, critical thinking, communication, and mission-driven work that directly impacts transplant recipients and donor families.\nThe Opportunity\nThe Referral Allocation Coordinator (RAC) facilitates organ donation within the HonorBridge service area by managing organ referrals and coordinating organ allocation for local donors. This role serves as a critical communication and coordination hub, collaborating with hospital teams, transplant centers, surgeons, HonorBridge staff, and the Administrator on Call (AOC) to ensure donation opportunities are evaluated and progressed efficiently.\nThe RAC reviews new referrals, monitors active donor cases, coordinates organ offers, completes required OPTN/UNOS documentation, and helps activate operational and clinical teams to support donation activities.\nThis is a night shift position requiring three 12-hour shifts per week, including on-call responsibilities, weekends, and holidays. The position works primarily remotely from home. Applicants must reside in North Carolina and maintain reliable internet and cell phone access. Periodic travel to HonorBridge offices for meetings and training is required.\nWhat You'll Do\nIn this role, you will:\nFacilitate organ donation by serving as the referral and allocation coordinator on call.\nComplete initial evaluations of new organ referrals through medical record review and assessment of donor potential.\nMonitor active referrals and assess changes in patient status through EMR review and collaboration with hospital care teams.\nCollaborate closely with the Administrator on Call (AOC) to support donor case progression and operational decision-making.\nActivate organ recovery and clinical staff as directed to support donation activities.\nCoordinate and complete allocation of organs deemed suitable for transplantation.\nInitiate, manage, and document organ offers in accordance with OPTN policies and procedures.\nCommunicate effectively with HonorBridge staff, transplant centers, surgeons, transplant coordinators, and hospital partners.\nReview, complete, and maintain accurate documentation within HonorBridge systems and DonorNet.\nComplete required UNOS donor feedback and follow-up documentation.\nMonitor and follow up on donor culture results as needed.\nMaintain electronic medical record (EMR) access and effectively utilize remote access systems to review clinical information.\nEnsure confidentiality of all donor, recipient, patient, and hospital information.\nParticipate in department meetings, quality initiatives, and process improvement efforts.\nBuild collaborative working relationships with healthcare professionals, transplant personnel, physicians, and HonorBridge team members.\nSupport administrative responsibilities, communication activities, and quality assurance tasks as assigned.\nRepresent HonorBridge's mission, values, and commitment to service excellence in every interaction.\nWhat You'll Bring\nWe're seeking a clinically minded professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, remains calm under pressure, and is passionate about helping save and heal lives through donation.\nMinimum Qualifications\nAssociate degree in a healthcare-related field and/or 2-3 years of experience in a clinical or comparable healthcare environment.\nExperience as an EMT, Paramedic, LPN, RN, or other clinical healthcare professional preferred.\nOPO Experience preferred.\nDemonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.\nStrong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in high-pressure situations.\nExperience with medical documentation, data entry, and electronic records.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications and computer-based systems.\nCommitment to organ and tissue donation and HonorBridge's mission.\nNorth Carolina residency required.\nPreferred Qualifications\nCertified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) certification preferred.\nCritical care nursing or healthcare experience\n\nExperience with donor management, transplantation, organ recovery, or organ allocation activities.\nWorking knowledge of OPTN/UNOS policies and procedures.\nExperience utilizing electronic medical record systems in a clinical environment.\nWork Environment\nThis position is primarily remote and requires reliable internet service and cell phone access.
