This position combines significant direct accounting responsibilities with supervision of the Accounting Team and helps ensure accurate and timely financial records, an efficient monthly and year-end closing, strong internal controls, and consistent application of accounting policies and procedures.\nThe Assistant Controller performs complex accounting work, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledger analysis, and posting of accounting batches, while overseeing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions.\nThis position serves as a key technical accounting resource for the Finance Department, supports preparation of financial statements, and works closely with the Controller and Grants Team to ensure financial activity is accurately reflected in Hopelink's financial records. The Assistant Controller serves as the primary backup to the Controller for accounting operations and financial close activities.\nWhat qualities we are looking for:We’d love to hear from you. We offer paid training!\nMinimum of five years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including significant hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.\nStrong knowledge and practical application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).\nNonprofit accounting experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of federal grant requirements and 2 CFR Part 200 helpful.\nPrior experience supervising, coaching, and providing technical leadership to accounting staff.\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills.
