This position will oversee the day-to-day processing, reconciliation, and reporting of accounts payable activity while working closely with the accounting and property management teams.\nThis position is intended to provide a long-term career path within the Company, with the expectation that the individual will progressively take on additional responsibility and, as the role develops, grow into an Accounts Payable Managerresponsible for overseeing the Company’s accounts payable function, processes, and team.\nCOMPANY OVERVIEW:\nHoppe Development is a private office real estate development and investment firm with construction and long-term management capabilities. In the past three years, the Company has achieved substantial growth and has over $150M in active projects in the development pipeline that represents transformative impact to communities throughout the state.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nPosition Location:In the corporate office located in Lincoln, Nebraska.\nManage the day-to-day accounts payable process, including invoice processing, electronic payments, and check disbursements.\nMaintain accurate and timely accounts payable records for the Company and all managed properties.\nHandle escalated vendor discrepancies, past-due issues, payment questions, and statement reconciliations.\nDevelop a strong understanding of the Company’s accounts payable processes, systems, controls, and approval procedures.\nIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency within the accounts payable function and assist with implementing process improvements.\nAssist with accruals and ledger reconciliations.\nProduce and monitor monthly cost comparisons to budget.\nAssist with tenant payments and ledger reconciliations.\nAssist in preparing bank and credit card reconciliations.\nPrepare monthly journal entries.\nAssist with intercompany payables and receivables.\nWork closely with the Controller, accountants, property management teams, vendors, and other departments to resolve issues and ensure timely payments.\nAs the position develops, take on increasing responsibility for oversight, organization, and management of the Company’s accounts payable function.\nWork toward assuming responsibility for training, coordinating, and eventually supervising AP staff as the department grows.\nAssist in establishing and maintaining AP procedures, internal controls, and performance standards.\nRespond to and provide solutions to special projects created by yourself or as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or Controller and collaborate with the team to achieve business results.\nPerform other related duties as assigned.\nDIRECT SUPERVISOR:\nThis position reports to the Corporate Controller and will work alongside other accountants and office administrators. As the position progresses toward an Accounts Payable Manager role, the individual will be expected to take increasing ownership of the accounts payable function and may eventually have direct reports.\nEDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:\nBachelor of Science/Art in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of strong accounting and finance experience or progressive advancement in accounting roles.\nStrong understanding of accounts payable processes and accounting principles, with the ability to develop into a subject matter expert and leader within the AP function.\nAbility to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and help implement strategy from a finance perspective.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.\nAbility to identify process improvements and take ownership of implementing solutions.\nWorking knowledge of real estate-related contracts, construction accounting, and transaction procedures common in the industry.\nAbility and desire to grow into a leadership role, take ownership of the accounts payable function, and eventually supervise and develop others.\nPersonal traits of a high-level commitment, motivation, energy, team orientation, professionalism, trust, personal honesty and integrity, and a demonstration of placing others in a place of high value.\nAbility to communicate professionally in various forms with customers, associates, vendors, and the general public, and ability to contribute to a strong team culture.\nCAREER GROWTH:\nThis position is designed with a clear opportunity for advancement. The successful candidate will initially focus on developing expertise in the Company’s accounts payable processes and systems, with the expectation of progressively assuming greater responsibility and ownership.
