You will work directly with operational leaders, field teams, and subject matter experts to identify what employees need, turn technical knowledge into practical learning, and measure whether that learning is making a difference.\nWhat you will do.\nBuild the Learning Strategy\nDevelop and lead HCG’s learning strategy and annual learning plan.\nAlign development priorities with business goals, workforce needs, competency gaps, and available resources.\nEstablish practical standards for learning design, delivery, documentation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.\nManage the learning budget and recommend investments based on business needs and expected impact.\nCreate Career-Changing Learning Experiences\nBuild structured onboarding and role-based learning paths for construction positions and career transitions.\nClarify early expectations, required knowledge, key relationships, field exposure, and milestones toward independent performance.\nDesign practical learning through workshops, job aids, field-based experiences, virtual sessions, instructor-led programs, and self-paced content.\nTransform complex processes and technical knowledge into clear, useful resources employees can apply on the job.\nPartner With the People Doing the Work\nCollaborate with field and office leaders, employees, Human Resources, safety, quality, and operational subject matter experts.\nIdentify capability gaps and translate them into focused learning solutions.\nCoach leaders and technical experts to become effective trainers, mentors, and facilitators.\nCreate train-the-trainer resources that improve consistency and expand HCG’s ability to develop employees.\nLead Programs From Idea to Impact\nCoordinate learning calendars, participants, communications, locations, materials, vendors, and technology.\nFacilitate high-impact learning for employees and leaders.\nMaintain accurate learning records and report participation, completion, outcomes, and follow-up needs.\nEvaluate learning platforms, external partners, and tools that support HCG’s needs.\nDefine intended outcomes before programs launch, evaluate application on the job, and make improvements based on evidence.\nCommunicate progress, risks, findings, and recommendations clearly to leadership.\nStrengthen Culture and Knowledge Sharing\nBuild trusted relationships across field and office teams.\nPromote ownership, coaching, mentoring, candid communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement.\nEnsure applicable learning programs intentionally reinforce safety and quality expectations.\nLead HCG-related learning work performed in partnership with the HMS Onboarding and Training Lead, including content development, shared learning practices, implementation, and reinforcement.\nRequirements\nWhat You Bring\nA bachelor’s degree in learning and development, organizational development, education, or a related field. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered. \nProgressive experience designing, facilitating, and managing learning programs in a business environment. \nExperience working with operational leaders and subject matter experts to create practical, job-relevant training. \nExperience developing onboarding, role-based learning, career development, leadership development, or train-the-trainer programs. \nConstruction industry experience is strongly helpful, particularly experience supporting field or project-based environments.\nWork Location and Travel\nThis position is based in the Madison office, is eligible under the company’s Remote Work Policy, and requires regular travel to HCG offices, jobsites, and training locations. The person in this position must be able to adjust work hours when needed to reach field teams or support scheduled learning events. A valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation are required.\nThe role works in office, training, and active construction-jobsite environments. Jobsite visits may involve uneven surfaces, stairs, required personal protective equipment, and conditions typical of active construction sites.
