Secret clearance preferred.\n\nPosition Summary:\nThe Second Assistant Engineer (2AE) supports the safe and efficient operation of all engineering systems aboard Training Support Vessels. This position assists the Chief Engineer and senior engineering staff in the maintenance, repair, and monitoring of propulsion and auxiliary machinery. The 2AE stands engine room watches and participates in both underway and in-port engineering duties as assigned.\n\nDuties and Responsibilities:\nServe as a member of the Engineering Department, supporting engineering operations and shipboard machinery management.\nPerform preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and troubleshooting on propulsion systems, auxiliary equipment, power generation systems, and related engineering equipment as directed by the Chief Engineer.\nStand assigned engine room watches (Duty Engineer) in accordance with operational and watchstanding requirements.\nRespond as the on-call Duty Engineer when the vessel is in homeport, following the established rotational watch bill.\nMaintain engineering logs, maintenance records, and equipment reports as required.\nFollow all safety, environmental, and regulatory procedures associated with engineering operations.\nAssist senior engineering officers with training and support of junior engineering personnel when required.\nPerform other duties as assigned to support vessel engineering readiness and safe operation.\n\nRequirements & Qualifications:\nValid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with STCW endorsements meeting the standard for: Chief Engineer/Second Engineer Officer of 3,000 kW (4,000 HP) or More.\nValid USCG Medical Certificate meeting engineering service standards.\nValid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).\nMust possess or be eligible for a United States Passport.\nMust meet physical and medical requirements for shipboard engineering duties, including the ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and handle equipment and tools.\nStrong mechanical aptitude and ability to support maintenance and troubleshooting of marine machinery.\nAbility to stand rotating watches and respond to engineering emergencies as required.\nEffective communication and teamwork skills to support coordinated engineering operations.\nMust meet all company and contractual requirements.\nMust be legally authorized to work in the United
