Participate in the safe operation of the vessel as required within USCG regulations.\nReport any problems to the Chief Engineer immediately. Understudy the Chief Engineer and be able to act in his absence. Perform all duties and responsibilities normally expected of a vessel’s Third Assistant Engineer. Operate the vessel appropriate to the parameters of the IMO-HSC.\nPerform daily/weekly/monthly preventative maintenance as per maintenance schedule. Properly stock and inventory the vessel’s spare parts. Properly process and pump sewage and oily water tanks when needed. Assist shore technicians as needed. Maintain daily logs. Make emergency repairs when needed.\nMaintain a safe and clean engine room. Train new engineers as required. Ensure that performance and behavior of engineers meets legal and professional requirements. \nConduct drills with Marine and Non-marine crew as directed by the Master or with engineering crew.\nThe majority of work is performed in a Marine environment in both indoor and outdoor conditions with exposure to various temperatures and weather conditions, along with moderate to loud noise levels.\nThe Marine operation is subject to varying levels of motion, movement, and vibration.\nThe Third Assistant Engineer both lives and works onboard a vessel, on a rotational basis, generally for 56 Days on – 56 Days off (+).\nOther job duties as assigned\nRequirements & Qualifications:\nHigh School Diploma or Equivalent required.\nBachelor’s degree preferred from maritime academy, or in related field, or equivalent experience.\nThird Assistant Engineer Unlimited Horsepower USCG License.\nSTCW 95 Certificate\nA valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)\nHave and maintain a valid U.S. Passport.\nComputer literacy in Microsoft office software.\nAbility to use independent judgment and discretion to develop and execute innovative solutions to engineering problems.\nPossess and demonstrate superior mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, electronic, and other skills exercised in engineering management of a large motor vessel.\nDemonstrate appropriate management and administrative skills.\nUtilize proven training and mentoring techniques.\nPossess a thorough understanding of all-pertinent regulations and laws.\nCommunicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.\nLogically and independently plan, organize, and complete work assignments.\nDemonstrate well-developed inter-personal skills.\nSet and achieve high standards of performance.\nDemonstrate initiative and be able to make progress on multiple assignments under time constraints.\nPossess excellent analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills\nFive years’ experience as Marine Engineer demonstrating the ability to handle increasing levels of responsibility.\nHigh Speed passenger vessel experience preferred.\nWater Jet Experience preferred.\nSpecific training and experience in management of major on-board systems by type and brand.\nExcellent career record in the marine industry.\nMaintain compliance with USCG physical standards.\nAbility to stand and walk on nearly a constant basis; ability to work long hours each day.\nAbility to bend, rotate and reach frequently.\nAbility to carry, push/pull and/or lift materials weighing upwards of 50 lbs.\nAscending/descending stairs or ladders safely.\nAbility to manipulate/handle/grip materials required to perform job.\nAbility to maneuver through/in/around small and/or confined areas within the vessel.\nMust be able to maintain both static and dynamic standing balance to complete various duties associated with job.\nMust be capable of performing emergency duties as listed in the vessel’s station bill.\nSuccessful completion of in-house IMO-HSC Type Rating Program.\nBe able to acquire and maintain a Secret Clearance.\nAccept Immunizations as required by Contract due to area of operation and/or nature of work.\nParticipate in Seawards Services, Inc.
