(HEI) will spend time in the field working on outdoor construction phase activities as well as a variety of in-office projects assisting engineers. Structural engineering projects range from complex grade separation projects and large bridges spanning a river with architectural enhancements to box culverts for a rural township over a small ditch.\nStructural engineering projects range from complex grade separation projects and large bridges spanning a river with architectural enhancements to box culverts for a rural township over a small ditch. The structural engineers have also designed a variety of hydraulic structures such as dams, floodwalls, gate wells, and some of the most complex lift stations in the region!\n As an intern, responsibilities may include some or all of the following:\nAssist with plan specifications and estimates as well as documenting construction activities.\nAssist with AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and update redlines with various project set drawings.\nOperate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.\nPerform work in a variety of software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS, etc.\nPotential observation and data collection at different types of project sites.\nAssist with research, development and design of projects.\nEnrolled in a Civil Engineering, or related Engineering program.\nCompleted coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.\nAble to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.\nAbove average math and communication skills.\nValid driver’s license and availability for overnight travel.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office.\nFamiliarity with Civil 3D and ArcGIS is helpful.\nStrong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, and clients.\nTask management skills, including scheduling, prioritizing, following up, and keeping project
