The expectation for faculty Research Scientist position on the Research Track is that full salary support must be maintained by the supervising faculty member(s) which can be constituted from extramural funding, philanthropic funding, start up support, or any combination thereof.\n\nFLSA STATUSExempt\nQUALIFICATIONS\nEDUCATION\n Doctorate degree in related field \nEXPERIENCE\n Experience in related field of study \nKNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES\nDemonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations \nSufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security \nAbility to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles \nDemonstrated knowledge of biomedical research \nAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment \nDemonstrates flexibility and adaptability in the workplace \nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nPEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nUnder the direction of a Principle Investigator (PI), coordinates and provides technical direction to the work activities of research staff engaged in projects. \nPerforms procedures which require a highly developed technical skill. \nContributes towards improvement of department scores for employee engagement, i.e. peer-to-peer accountability. \nSERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nDesigns, develops, or adapts equipment used in experiments or research to obtain desired results. \nEstablishes procedures to be applied for projects. \nParticipates in writing manuscripts and publications. \nQUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nCompiles, writes, and submits project results to the principle investigator. \nDesigns, develops, or adapts equipment used in experiments or research to obtain desired results. \nAnalyzes data and interprets data. \nDefines problems and possible solutions as dictated by the research project. \nFINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nParticipates in grant writing the specific grant(s). \nUtilizes resources with cost effectiveness and value creation in mind. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks, assisting coworkers as needed. \nGROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nReviews scientific literature. \nSeeks opportunities to identify self-development needs and takes appropriate action.
