The Sr Payroll Liaison position leads department efforts for testing and auditing as changes and upgrades are implemented by Information Technology (IT), resolving issues with customers and vendors, and coordinating communication of changes to customers.\n\nFLSA STATUS\nExempt\nQUALIFICATIONS\nEDUCATION\n Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Business Administration, Health Administration, Human Resources, or related discipline.\nMay consider Houston Methodist employee with an additional four years of work experience in lieu of degree \nEXPERIENCE\n Five years experience in the Human Resources, payroll or related field \n Served on an implementation team for one payroll implementation and one major upgrade or conversion preferred \nLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS\nPreferred\nCPA - Certified Public Accountant - State Licensure or\nCPP - Certified Payroll Professional (APA) \nKNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES\nDemonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through ongoing skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations \nSufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security \nAbility to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles \nDemonstrates a high level of maturity with demonstrated self-confidence and ability to make decisions \nConducts self in a professional manner at all times \nAbility to work with peers in a team situation or work independently \nProfessional handling of exposure to confidential/sensitive information \nMust demonstrate keen attention to detail and accuracy \nCompetent computer skills in Windows, MS Office Applications and HRIS \nWell organized, able to effectively manage multiple priorities in environment of substantial interruptions \nMust be flexible and adapt to change without reservation \nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nPEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nFunctions as a team leader to accomplish department-specific projects that involve the use of the department-specific software or database. Works collaboratively with teams and take a lead role to perform the duties of liaison with IT. \nPromotes a positive work environment, working with team members and other functional areas to ensure needs are met and payroll is processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with various regulations. \nProvides contributions towards improvement of department scores for employee engagement, i.e., peer-to-peer accountability. \nSERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nTakes a lead role in working with software vendor to communicate issues and work on resolutions. \nProvides project management support to manage department specific timelines and milestones and manage department deliverables. Manages workload and workload of junior members to ensure timelines and deliverables are met. \nIdentifies and facilitates resolution of issues that arise from operations or various payroll initiatives. \nQUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nLeads department efforts for testing and auditing as changes and upgrades are implemented by IT, resolving issues with customers and vendor, and coordinating communication of changes to customers \nProvides analysis and trending expertise to identify areas for improvement and lead process improvement projects. Utilizes time efficiently and helps other team members. \nGROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nOptimizes payroll processes, focusing on automation and system utilization through data analysis, subject matter expertise, and reporting. \nIdentifies and assumes responsibility of own learning needs and seeks continuing education opportunities to meet those needs. Completes and updates the My Development Plan on an ongoing basis. Ensures own career discussions occur with appropriate management. \nOffers innovative solutions through participation in performance improvement projects and activities.
