A flexible and responsive approach to this role is vital, together with the initiative in identifying and focusing on the needs of the business and its customers.\nSpecific Responsibilities\nSet, Fault Find & Operate machines to produce fasteners to strict tolerances.\nTo use gauges, micrometers, shadow graphs to ensure parts are conforming to the drawing.\nSelf-certification of personal work.\nTo prove out programs so they are in line with the correct timings in accordance with our manufacturing and quality standards.\nKeep all computer files and manual paperwork accurate and up to date at all times.\nResponsible for producing SPC charts and records.\nEnsure housekeeping is maintained to the highest standards.\nEnsure all quality procedures are adhered to, taking an active part in root cause analysis.\nGeneral Company Support\nUndertake to train on all machines to ensure 100% flexibility in the workplace, and once fully trained to train others.\nTo actively take part in locally focused, or multi-functional continuous improvement teams.\nWork as fully flexible team member within the Company to maximize levels of production and quality.\nMaximize plant and resource utilization.\nCompany Responsibilities\nMaintain full compliance with Howmet policies and procedures and conduct all activities in accordance with the Howmet Guide to Business Conduct.\nTo adhere to all company EHS requirements and actively participate in the identification and elimination of hazards.\nTo undertake and promote their own self development, in line with Company and personal aims.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\n Education, Experience & Background\nExperience in the operation of RSS and manual centre-less Grinders\nExperience of working within busy Manufacturing environment.\nExperience setting Grinding Machines.\nAerospace experience would be advantageous.\nCompetencies & Skills - Person specification\nCommunication\nStrong communication skills.\nCommunicates effectively with fellow team members.\nListens to other people and is respectful to their opinions.\n\nTeam Skills\nEmphasises the importance of reaching work objectives.\nBuilds strong relationships with other departments.\nPersonal Attributes\nShows determination in reaching productivity targets.\nDemonstrates a high attention to detail/accuracy.\nGenerates and is open to new ideas.\nAbility to work on their own initiative.\nDemonstrate their willingness to develop new skills.\nProblem Solving\nCritically examines parts for accuracy and quality.\nEnsures work is carried out to set standards and specifications.\nEnsures compliance with legislation, including Health and Safety.\nTechnical Knowledge\nHas a basic understanding or appreciation of problem solving.\nPerformance Management/Review\nCompetence in the Grinding Setter/Operator’s role will be based on the job holder’s ability to meet the requirements set out in the job description and display the behaviors outlined in the person specification.
