Responsible for the Operatives on shift and achievement of department production targets, whilst maintaining a safe and clean working environment and full quality, technical and environmental compliance.\nKey Tasks and Accountabilities:\nTo fully support the Hot Works Manager and cover in their absence. \nResponsibility for the management of the Hot Works department and consumables and ensure the equipment is ready and available to deliver the plan and highlight improvements. \nTo uphold the Company Policy with regards to Health, Safety, and the Environment within the facility. \nTo support and develop personnel within the department. \nFully support audits, track the teams and processes to ensure continuous compliance and drive leading indicators to improve EHS and Quality.\nHold shift start daily briefs to update team in line with operating rules and Human Performance expectations.\nComplete a local Walk the Floor routine to contribute to the Daily Operations Meeting reporting on performance against the agreed metrics under EHS, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People, and to identify problems for resolution by the manufacturing and / or functional teams.\nBe responsible for EH&S and Quality within the department, e.g., auditing of equipment, calibration, generation/amendment of risk assessments, wearing of PPE - carrying out actions accordingly.\nAssist management in the following:Ensuring shift patterns in place and skill sets are covered. \nSupport with planning and coordinating of work, deliver the plan.\nEnsure team members are aware and understand what is required of them.\nChecking start & finish times, breaks and reporting to Line Manager of any issues.\nAssisting with holiday bookings in line with Holiday Policy/departmental requirements to ensure cover always in place.\nManage the misuse of time (mobile phones, leaving workstation without good reason)\n\nEnsure training/coaching is delivered to all production operatives where necessary and Training records are always live and updated. \nInput/update Tropos bookings\nBe able to identify bottlenecks in production and work in conjunction with management to develop a plan for the resolution. \nEnsure processes are running in line with expectations.\nEnsure quality and output standards are met.\nRecommend and drive departmental improvements.\nMaintain a safe and clean working environment. \nPromote and drive a 5S lean culture. \nMaintain good timekeeping and attendance.\nEnsure all paperwork/route cards in relation to the department are correctly completed.\nEnsure all departmental TPMs are completed on time. \nRaise maintenance requests in accordance with required system and ensure EHS issues are communicated promptly to the relevant individuals in accordance with the relevant procedure.\nIn the event of an incident/accident ensure the correct reporting procedures and collection of evidence and statements to the required company standard.\nEnvironmental Health and Safety\nUndertake Pre-Task Briefs, Job Safety Observations as required.\nChallenge unsafe practices and enforce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance at all levels.\nEnsuring that all equipment in the department is appropriately maintained.\nUndertake periodic risk assessment reviews of processes to drive risk reduction.\nMaintain the Quality Management System and seek to improve quality levels through a Right First-Time culture.\nEnsure all calibrated equipment is maintained and compliant when in operational use. \nRaise and review non-conformance and scrap issues highlighted and support shift operations by developing corrective actions and improve job instructions using standard company tools and templates.\nQuality\nMaintain the Quality Management System and seek to improve quality levels through a Right First-Time culture.\nEnsure all calibrated equipment is maintained and compliant when in operational use. \nRaise and review non-conformance and scrap issues highlighted and support shift operations by developing corrective actions and improve job instructions using standard company tools and templates.\nPreferred Knowledge (Desirable)\nAwareness of manufacturing processes specifically forging experience preferred\nTropos - Works order maintenance, route cards. \nAwareness of Aerospace QMS \nDaily Operational management meeting routines \nDaily reporting - email updates, maintenance issues, general information, etc. \nJob and department instructions, Continuous improvements, environmental compliance. \nWalk The Floor checks - Overhead Crane, Manipulator, Fork Lift Truck, Accidents/incident investigation, tool calibrations. \nWaste management - Lean events, 5S, internal waste and environmental compliance. \nEmergency protocol - Emergency evacuation, fire alarms systems, emergency contacts, COSHH data, fire assembly and rollcall, incident management and reporting. \nAptitudes Required\nDetermined, quality orientated, organised and disciplined.
