The Manufacturing Leader, located in Hampton, VA, will provide day to day leadership and direction to manufacturing shop floor teams while promoting manufacturing excellence and ensuring customer satisfaction. The Manufacturing Leader will also provide leadership in continuous improvement of plant performance measurements (quality, productivity, cycle time, delivery and cash flow).\nThis position can be located at one of the following: Hampton IGT or Hampton Structural\nPrimary Responsibilities\nFollow Safety Regulations along with all department specific safety requirements.\nEnsure the safety of all employees by promoting a clean and safe work environment, addressing any safety issues or non-compliances immediately.\nImprove manufacturing planning, execution, and shop floor discipline.\nProvide leadership for Plant CI and lean manufacturing initiatives, including oversight to identify and remove non-value-added waste. Use lean manufacturing tools to reduce WIP and cycle time.\nImprove product flow and/or implement method improvements to reduce labor content.\nDevelop and train for the professional and personal growth of team leaders, cell facilitators, supervisors, and other manufacturing support personnel.\nMaintain accountability for department budgets, including expense management, cost control and alignment with operational and financial objectives.\nWork with plant manager and staff to develop budget, strategic plans, team goals and objectives that align with Engines Business Unit (BU) objectives.\nCommunicate and cascade organizational goals and objectives throughout the department, to ensure alignment, accountability, and execution.\nCollaborate effectively with other locations and corporate teams.\nMaintain excellent delivery performance.\nEnsure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.\nDrive cost reductions to improve profitability.\nUnderstand constraint management, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and apply techniques that exploit constraints to improve OEE.\nMaintain excellent relationships and communication with Howmet customers.\nConsult with engineering personnel relative to modifications to the process to improve production and quality of the products.\n Basic Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required.\nMinimum of 5 years in manufacturing, and 2 years in a supervisory capacity.\nEmployees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
