The Safety Specialist will play a pivotal role in safeguarding employees, contractors, and visitors at a high-volume aerospace and industrial manufacturing facility. This position focuses on developing, implementing, and continuously improving safety programs that align with industry regulations and Howmet’s culture of proactive risk management.\nKey Responsibilities\nSafety Program Management\nDevelop, update, and enforce facility-specific safety policies and procedures.\n\nConduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.\n\nLead incident investigations, root-cause, and corrective action plans.\n\nUpdate and maintain emergency plans\nCompliance & Regulatory Affairs\nEnsure compliance with OSHA, ASME, ISO, and other relevant standards.\n\nMaintain accurate records for inspections, audits, and incident reporting.\n\nLiaise with regulatory agencies and external auditors.\n\nTraining & Communication\nDesign and deliver safety training modules for new hires, shift supervisors, and specialized teams.\n\nPromote a safety-first culture through signage, and toolbox talks.\n\nFacilitate safety briefings and incident-reporting channels\nHazard Mitigation\nIdentify potential hazards in process operations, material handling, and equipment use.\n\nRecommend engineering controls, PPE, and procedural changes.\n\nContinuous Improvement\nAnalyze safety metrics (e.g., incident frequency, severity) and benchmark against industry best practices.\n\nParticipate in cross-functional teams to integrate safety into product development and process design.\n\n High School diploma or GED equivalent\n\nBachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety or related field is preferred but not required\n\nMinimum 1 year in safety-focused role, preferably in manufacturing\n\nStrong communication and leadership abilities\n\nVerification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
