Due to the sense of urgency that impacts the decision-making process in this position, the incumbent functions with minimal direction and has considerable freedom to act in handling the daily activities and problems occurring in their assigned plant areas. Direct reports include, but are not limited to, shift supervisors and technical support personnel. The incumbent communicates continually with all levels of personnel across all departments at Cleveland Operations. Externally, they communicate with outside contractors, vendors, and suppliers.\nAccountability Objectives\nResponsibilities include but are not limited to:\nDeveloping and implementing innovative maintenance techniques. \nCoaching, supervising, and training skilled craftspeople, apprentices, and laborers in the repair and maintenance activities assigned to their shift and area. \nSupervising, training, coaching, and assisting Maintenance Supervisors/ Maintenance Planners.\nAssuming single point accountability for maintenance activities in assigned area. \nPerforming frontline troubleshooting activities on equipment in area of responsibility.\nEstablishing maintenance priorities that are consistent with overall production requirements.\nEstablishing short-term and long-term maintenance outages with internal customers to meet customer delivery requirements.\nDirecting safety awareness programs to manage workforce safety, maintain housekeeping, and assist the Production team in area safety analysis. \nCoordinating PM and other outage activities on equipment in area of responsibility. \nPlanning daily activities for assigned maintenance crews and providing the tools, materials, and technical direction for the normal maintenance, preventative maintenance, and capital work for area of responsibility. \nPerforming root cause analysis and “5-why” techniques to eliminate maintenance downtime and increase OEE. \nUtilization of CMMS database, Smart Teams, Oracle, and other required applications.\nPartnering with the Engineering Department on repetitive maintenance problems to ensure the continuous improvement and reliability of the equipment and facilities in area of responsibility.\nCoordinating and managing the development of maintenance work procedures and standard practices to maximize quality work and eliminate waste. \nDriving continuous improvement activities to eliminate all waste, especially as it relates to maintenance downtime, safety, work practices, and employee involvement. \nDriving best practices within their organization and across all areas in coordination with other Area Leads and Maintenance Supervisors. \nManaging applicable labor issues effectively within area of responsibility. \nPerforming administrative requirements to effectively manage the workforce.\nCommunicating with and guiding the Safety Department to identify root causes. This includes developing and implementing root cause corrective action.\nSustaining Leader Standard Work protocols through appropriate audits. \nPerforming other duties as assigned. \n Basic Qualifications\nFor this position to be successful, the incumbent should have:\nHigh School diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution. \nMinimum 5 years of industrial, electrical, technical, or mechanical experience in a heavy manufacturing environment. \nMinimum 3 years of supervisory experience. \nThe ability to effectively communicate (verbally and written) and delegate while maintaining forward motion on key deliverables. \nA high degree of interpersonal skills to motivate and influence others, including those not under their direct supervision. \nDemonstrated ability of problem solving, systems thinking, project management, and team building. \nThorough knowledge of maintenance and inspection procedures. \nThis position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee. \n\nPreferred Qualifications\nFor this position to be successful, preference is given to candidates with:\nAn Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or in a related field from an accredited institution.\nExperience working in a unionized environment. \nReliability applications experience. \nWorking Conditions\nThis position involves participating in non-routine tasks regularly, which increases the potential for accidents, and requires following basic safety precautions. Nevertheless, work is normally performed in an interior office space. Occasionally, this position requires wearing a tyvek suit when there is a possibility of exposure to hazardous materials.
