Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, along the shores of Lake Michigan - our facility in La Porte, Indiana supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the Aerospace industry.\nJob Summary - This position is responsible for the dimensional integrity of an assigned portfolio of investment cast parts. Responsibility includes the design and acquisition of tooling, fixtures, gauges, and dimensional inspection plans necessary to produce parts that consistently meet or exceed our customers’ requirements and expectations. Also, this position will identify and lead continuous improvement activities to reduce cost, improve scrap and rework yields, and improve the overall efficiency of the manufacturing process.\nEssential Functions\nDevelops and improves processes of critical and complex aerospace components.\nConceives, evaluates and implements problem solving activities, cost reduction initiatives and part/process improvement activities.\nJob responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:\nInvestigates and analyzes root cause of external customer escapes. Develops and implements corrective action plans accordingly.\nInitiates, prepares and validates dimensional qualification packages to meet customer requirements.\nConducts meetings and provides technical data to meet customer needs.\nPromptly responds to manufacturing issues and addresses root cause.\nEvaluates defects and dimensional integrity of components and determines appropriate actions.\nDefines and implements control plans and FMEA per customer requirements.\nCollects, analyzes and prepares statistical data.\nConducts design review meetings with customers to ensure production capability on new components.\nDevelops production processes that are efficient and within cost estimates.\nEvaluates and implements cost reduction activities.\nDevelops scrap and labor costs for cost modeling.\nDefines, solicits and reviews quotes for tooling and cores.\nAttends NPI meetings and provides input based on customer specifications for BOM, routings and milestone plans.\nDefines designs, coordinates construction and validates finished tooling. \nCollects & analyzes data to appropriately identify, institute, and monitor cost reduction efforts.\nCollects & analyzes data to appropriately identify, institute, and monitor scrap and rework improvements.\nComplies with all EHS rules required for the work environment.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\n Basic Qualifications\nA bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline from an accredited institution.\n1 year work experience in an Engineering role, including co-op or internship experience.\nEmployees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.\nThis position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.\nPreferred Qualifications\n3 years' work experience in an Engineering role.\nSix Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.\nEffective oral and written communication skills.\nEfficient analytical and problem-solving skills.\nWorking knowledge of computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Office products, graphics, and statistical analysis software).\nAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.\nAbility to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.\nAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.\nAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.\nAbility to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.\nAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
