Under the direction of an Area Lead, this position is the first level of authority in the workplace by providing leadership, coaching, and clear direction to ensure that the hourly workforce is working safely, meeting customer demands, solving problems, eliminating waste, and meeting goals. Direct reports include the incumbent’s respective area’s and shift’s hourly reports. The incumbent communicates with all levels of personnel and management in the Operations, Maintenance, and EHS Departments.\nResponsibilities\nEnsuring that all EHS policies are followed.\nMonitoring performance and implementing corrective actions to meet goals.\nIdentifying and implementing improvement plans.\nSolving problems to their root causes to prevent recurrence.\nCommunicating with others effectively within and outside the work group.\nMaintaining all production and related quality assurance records.\nProviding leadership, direction, and motivation to people in assigned area.\nManaging employee and labor relations effectively including contract administration, grievance handling and day-to-day employee complaints/issues.\nMeeting or exceeding production goals, which includes monitoring output, safety, on time delivery, and people initiatives within a traditional unit supervisor role.\nDirecting the implementation of Howmet Aerospace Business System initiatives (lean manufacturing) including 5S, standardized work, work balance, product flow, and TPM improvements.\nOwning cost savings initiatives (degree implementation).\nOverseeing the clocking in and out procedures for all hourly crafts persons under their supervision to ensure that the HR Department receives the right information to pay employees correctly and on-time.\nCreating and submitting product orders for operational expense items based on departmental need to ensure the continual operation of the department with minimal operational interference.\nWorking Conditions\nThis position involves varying degrees of exposure to risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions. Work is normally performed in a shared work environment, divided between the shop floor and an atypical interior work space. While not regularly exposed to hazardous materials, the potential to encounter such hazards requires wearing chemical resistant protective wear as necessary.
