The successful candidate will lead security architecture, firmware development, platform integration, and security validation activities throughout the product lifecycle.\nThe ideal candidate will bring expertise in embedded security, cryptography, secure firmware development, and system-level problem solving while contributing to HP's next-generation security platform strategy.\nResponsibilities\nLead the architecture, design, implementation, and lifecycle management of security-related firmware and platform services.\nDevelop and maintain Smart Card authentication solutions, including CAC/PIV workflows, certificate management, PIN-based authentication, and enterprise identity integration.\nDrive development and integration of Supplies Security (Gauss) technologies, including security firmware, middleware, device drivers, and platform interfaces.\nDesign and implement cryptographic services, secure storage, key management, and authentication mechanisms.\nPort, integrate, and maintain third-party security solutions and middleware within embedded firmware platforms.\nDefine security architecture, threat models, validation strategies, and secure software development practices.\nLead security verification, debugging, root-cause analysis, and resolution of complex firmware, hardware, and platform security issues.\nCollaborate with firmware, hardware, QA, operating system, and security teams to ensure secure and reliable product delivery.\nWork directly with external technology partners and vendors to support solution integration, issue resolution, and long-term technology planning.\nCollaborate and communicate with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding firmware design status, project progress, and issue resolution.\nStay up to date with industry trends and advancements in firmware and security technologies and provide recommendations for improvement.\nImpact & Scope\nImpacts multiple teams and may act as a team or project leader, providing direction to team activities and facilitating information validation and team decision-making processes.\nComplexity\nResponds to moderately complex issues within established guidelines.\nLeadership Expectations\nProvide technical leadership in strategic security technology areas.\nDrive architecture decisions and long-term technology direction.\nMentor engineers and contribute to the growth of team technical capabilities.\nWork effectively across global engineering organizations.\nCommunicate complex technical concepts clearly to both engineering and business stakeholders.\nMinimum Qualifications\nEducation: Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.\n4+ years of work experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years of work experience in:\nStrong experience in embedded software or firmware development using C/C++.\nSolid understanding of security architecture, authentication technologies, and secure firmware development.\nExperience with cryptographic technologies, PKI, certificate management, and secure authentication mechanisms.\nExperience integrating security solutions into commercial embedded products.\nStrong debugging and problem-solving skills across firmware, hardware, and system integration layers.\n Preferred Qualifications\nSmart Card / Platform Security\nExperience with Smart Card technologies, including CAC/PIV authentication, certificate validation, and enterprise identity integration.\nKnowledge of PKI infrastructure, X.509 certificates, CRL/CDP processing, and secure access workflows.\nSupplies Security (Gauss)\nExperience with security chip technologies, device drivers, middleware, and platform integration.\nFamiliarity with secure storage, key management, cryptographic validation, and hardware-based security architecture.\nAdditional Preferences\nExperience working with enterprise firmware platforms.\nFamiliarity with commercial printing or imaging products.\nExperience collaborating with global engineering teams and external technology partners..\nBenefits\n The pay range for this role is $105,050 to $161,800 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only).
