The role works closely with software developers, hardware engineers, quality assurance, and product managers to deliver high-quality products.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and develop reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality firmware solutions for HP Print products.\nDesign enhancements, updates, and innovations for subsystems of embedded software running on Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).\nImplement coding, programming, and integration activities based on product objectives and overall system architecture.\nCollaborate with hardware engineers to integrate firmware with hardware components and ensure seamless system functionality.\nWrite and execute testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned software and firmware components.\nIdentify, debug, and resolve application and firmware issues through root-cause analysis and implementation of robust solutions.\nAnalyze performance, memory utilization, and power consumption profiles and implement optimizations.\nInvestigate field issues and deliver reliable corrective actions and long-term fixes.\nCollaborate and communicate with management, internal teams, and outsourced development partners regarding software design status, project progress, and issue resolution.\nWork closely with architects, hardware engineers, software developers, quality assurance teams, and product managers to ensure requirements and specifications are clearly defined.\nEvaluate and apply AI-assisted software development and engineering tools when they can improve productivity, code quality, testing, debugging, documentation, or engineering workflows while meeting applicable security and intellectual property requirements.\nAct as a contributing team member by providing technical analysis, recommendations, and support for team objectives.\nStay current with industry trends and emerging firmware technologies and recommend opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.\nImpact & Scope\nImpacts multiple teams and may act as a team or project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitating information validation and team decision-making processes.\nComplexity\nResponds to moderately complex issues within established guidelines.\nMinimum Qualifications\nFour-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another related discipline, or equivalent work experience and demonstrated competence.\n4+ years of experience in firmware development, embedded software engineering, or a related field, or an advanced degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.\nRequired Knowledge & Skills\nStrong programming skills in C and C++.\nExperience developing firmware and embedded software solutions.\nUnderstanding of firmware and hardware design principles.\nExperience or understanding of firmware development tools, programming environments, and debugging techniques.\nWorking knowledge of Linux and operating systems concepts.\nUnderstanding of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), including multithreading and multitasking concepts.\nExperience with software debugging, testing methodologies, and tools such as Google Test.\nFamiliarity with Agile methodologies and development tools such as Jira.\nExperience using Git or other version control systems.\nUnderstanding of Python scripting is beneficial.\nKnowledge of algorithms, software engineering, and new product development processes.\nFamiliarity with ARM processors, board support packages (BSPs), and low-level device drivers is considered a plus.\nAbility to analyze system performance, memory utilization, and power optimization opportunities.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across global and cross-functional teams.\nPassion for research, innovation, and product development in a collaborative environment.\nRequired Cross-Org Skills\nEffective Communication\nResults Orientation\nLearning Agility\nDigital Fluency\nCustomer Centricity\nBenefits\n The pay range for this role is $105,050 to $161,800 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only).
