Commercial Software Product Manger & Operations Team Lead

Description -

At HP, we deliver world-class compute experiences for business customers and IT decision makers. We are seeking an experienced Software Product Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Commercial PC product portfolio, with a focus on driving end-to-end execution of our operating system strategy.

In this role, you will lead OS execution across the full product lifecycle, from concept and planning through launch, sustaining, and end-of-life. You will work on complex challenges, influence priorities across multiple business units, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, category, go-to-market, sales, as well as strategic technology partners. This role requires a strong balance of strategic thinking and disciplined execution, along with the ability to operate effectively at scale, navigate ambiguity, communicate with impact, and align internal and external stakeholders around shared outcomes.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can translate strategy into action, connect business priorities with technical execution, and help deliver innovative software experiences that advance HP’s Commercial PC strategy. You will join a high-energy, world-class team that values collaboration, accountability, and customer impact, while gaining the opportunity to expand your influence, creativity, and leadership to the next level.

This position is hosted within the Commercial Notebook Transitions & Lifecyle Management team.

Roles & Responsibilities

Primarily you will work with cross-functional teams in the planning, evaluation, development, implementation, and marketing of software preinstalled on HP Commercial PC products.

  • Champion OS strategy and execution for HP Commercial products, driving vision, messaging, launch readiness, performance tracking, and lifecycle management from concept through end-of-life.
  • Lead software operations and product management for Windows and alternate operating systems across the Commercial PC hardware portfolio, coordinating OS readiness across business units and partners.
  • Own key lifecycle deliverables, including OS POR, software planning, image refreshes, software change requests, QuickSpecs, datasheets, and other launch-critical content.
  • Apply deep expertise in OS deployment, application software, hardware portfolio requirements, and partner standards while ensuring compliance with alliance, contractual, and legal obligations.
  • Use customer insights, competitive analysis, business performance, usage trends, and SMB/enterprise software knowledge to guide roadmap decisions and future product definition.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Software Experience teams, engineering, GTM, sales, ISVs, and strategic technology partners to align priorities, identify opportunities, and deliver integrated software solutions.
  • Manage software roadmaps, feature priorities, schedules, and execution quality across new product introduction and sustaining phases.
  • Create and support customer-facing messaging, launch content, go-to-market activities, training, and stakeholder readiness.
  • Leverage data analytics tools such as Excel and Power BI to report insights, track execution, and support internal and external partner reviews.
  • Advocate for automation, scalability, and process improvement across software lifecycle management.
  • Mentor junior team members and support their professional growth.

Required Education & Experience

  • Experience with software lifecycle operations, product readiness, roadmap management, and large-scale cross-business-unit execution.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a matrix and cross-functional team environment.
  • BA or BS in business, marketing, engineering, computer science, or a related technical field; post-graduate degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of product management, product marketing, program management, or operational leadership experience in the technology industry.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of product lifecycle planning, development, go-to-market processes, and the interdependent steps required to drive change across an organization.
  • Results-oriented leader with the ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and drive product line strategies, processes, and schedules to meet business goals and deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Proven ability to lead, influence, and collaborate across all organizational levels to solve complex problems and align teams around shared outcomes.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data and concepts into actionable insights, clear storytelling, and concise recommendations for stakeholders at all levels.
  • Comfortable presenting to and engaging with senior leaders, with the ability to communicate with confidence, clarity, and impact.
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills, with disciplined follow-through and attention to execution quality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong capability in Excel, Power BI, or similar analytical and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated ambition, adaptability, and ability to deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
