This role ensures that customer jobs flow efficiently from PDF intake through printed and finished output, enabling reliable, automated, and scalable production environments.\nThe Workflow Engineer operates at the intersection of software systems, print production processes, and customer operations, working closely with R&D, Customer Assurance Finishing Solution Engineers and Industrial Controls Engineers, Sales teams, and external partners to deliver customer-ready workflow solutions deployed worldwide. Responsibilities\nDesign and implement end-to-end workflows supporting PageWide Web Press production, from job submission and prepress through printing and finishing. \nConfigure and validate workflow elements including job intake, PDF processing, imposition, and job routing. \nSupport workflow integration for nearline, offline, and hybrid finishing configurations, including coordination with finishing teams.\nServe as the primary technical interface between customer-facing support teams and HP product development for workflow-related topics. \nParticipate in customer calls and onsite visits to understand requirements, troubleshoot issues, and support solution deployment. \nPerform system validation, testing, and customer acceptance of workflow solutions for new installs, upgrades, and design changes.\nTroubleshoot complex workflow issues, including PDF handling, automation behavior, imposition logic, and integration with press and finishing systems. \nSupport Tier-4 escalations, working with R&D to drive root cause, resolution, and deployment planning. \nDocument workflow architectures, configurations, and known limitations to support reuse, scalability, and knowledge transfer. Education & Experience Recommended\nFour-year or Graduate Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.\nTypically has 4-7 years of work experience, preferably in systems engineering, computer programming language, or a related field or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.\nRequired Qualifications\nExperience designing, integrating, or supporting software systems in an industrial or production environment. \nPractical knowledge of PDF preparation for print, including imposition and preflight. \nFamiliarity with workflow automation concepts, APIs, and system-to-system integration. \nStrong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to customers and cross-functional teams.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with industrial digital printing workflows or high-speed production environments. \nFamiliarity with HP PageWide Web Press workflow ecosystem and tools.\nExperience supporting workflows deployed in customer production environments.\nAbility to operate effectively in a global, cross-functional organization.\nCross-Org Skills\nEffective Communication\nResults Orientation\nLearning Agility\nDigital Fluency\nCustomer Centricity Impact & Scope\nThis role is critical to delivering end-to-end HP PageWide solutions by transforming press capability into efficient, automated customer production workflows.
