The role will establish and maintain the company's authoritative “single source of truth” for the external data, analysis and insights that inform planning, strategy, commercial decisions and investor communications. Working across the enterprise, this leader will translate complex market signals into clear, decision-ready perspectives for the Executive Leadership Team, Corporate Finance, the Commercial organization and other key stakeholders.\nWhat you will do: \nLead the design and execution of H&P's global market and competitive intelligence agenda, aligned with corporate priorities and decision cycles.\nCreate and maintain integrated market models, dashboards, forecasts, scenarios and recurring intelligence products for planning, strategy, investor relations and commercial teams.\nHost and lead the weekly Global Commercial Intelligence call, setting a focused agenda, drawing out regional perspectives, identifying implications and ensuring actions and insights are captured and shared.\nOrganize and develop executive leadership and Board briefings on market conditions, competitors, strategic themes and emerging risks and opportunities.\nBuild, document and refresh H&P macro house views across priority macro, commercial and strategic topics, clearly distinguishing facts, assumptions, scenarios and management judgments.\nPartner closely with FP&A, Investor Relations, Strategy, Commercial, Operations, Technology and regional leadership to ensure intelligence is embedded in forecasts, resource allocation and decision-making.\nSupport investor communications with credible market context, peer and competitor analysis, data validation and presentation-ready content.\nOwn the enterprise portfolio of market-data and research subscriptions: assess needs, manage vendors and renewals, eliminate duplication, control costs, manage access and maximize adoption and value.\nMaintain productive relationships with third-party research providers, industry experts, customers and other external knowledge networks; challenge external research where necessary and triangulate competing perspectives.\nApply AI and automation to accelerate research, synthesis, content creation and knowledge retrieval while maintaining rigorous source validation, confidentiality, governance and human review.\nEstablish standards for data quality, sourcing, version control and distribution, ensuring sensitive information is handled appropriately.\nWhat you need:\nBachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, engineering, data analytics or a related discipline; an advanced degree is advantageous.\n7 - 10 years of relevant work experience.\nDeep understanding of rig markets and the drivers of drilling demand, supply, utilization and pricing, together with strong knowledge of oil and gas macro fundamentals.\nEstablished knowledge of leading third-party research houses, their datasets, methodologies and strengths; a strong external network and credible provider relationships are highly desirable.\nDemonstrated ability to develop market forecasts, scenarios and strategic insights from incomplete, conflicting or fast-changing information.\nExperience supporting senior executives and producing materials suitable for executive leadership and Board audiences.\nAdvanced Excel capability, including model development, scenario analysis, data integration and quality control.\nAdvanced PowerPoint and business-storytelling skills, with the ability to create concise, professional-grade presentations from complex analysis.\nStrong practical knowledge of AI-enabled research, synthesis and content-generation tools, together with sound judgment regarding validation, confidentiality and responsible use.\nAbility to communicate complex market dynamics clearly and persuasively in writing and in person, adapting the message for commercial, financial, executive and Board audiences.\nStrong facilitation skills and the confidence to lead global calls, challenge assumptions constructively and drive alignment across functions and regions.\nDynamic, curious and commercially minded, with a strong external orientation and a desire to understand what is changing and why it matters.\nA self-starter who can define the agenda, build the capability and deliver at pace with limited direction.\nIntellectually rigorous and objective, with the confidence to form a view while remaining transparent about evidence, uncertainty and alternative outcomes.\nHighly collaborative and able to build trusted internal networks across functions, regions and levels, as well as external knowledge-sharing relationships.\nStrong organizational discipline, attention to detail and the ability to balance recurring deliverables with rapid-response requests. \nDomestic travel 10% as needed.\nWhat we offer:\nAt H&P, our commitment to our people is at the forefront, and that includes benefits that provide employees a sense of health and financial security.
