The ideal candidate will have experience in multi-state payroll processing, tax filings, and payroll compliance, with strong client communication and problem-solving skills.\nDay to day, you'll...\nServe as the primary payroll contact for a portfolio of assigned clients\nProcess payroll-related actions, including status changes, separations, tax changes, deductions, and direct deposits\nApply for and maintain State and Local Withholding IDs; update rates as required by regulation changes\nEnsure payrolls are processed accurately and on schedule, including regular wages, overtime, bonuses, tips, and other premium payments\nReview, verify, and reconcile payroll data in accordance with payroll guidelines and compliance requirements\nProvide clear and timely responses to client inquiries on payroll, policies, and benefits-related topics\nManage payroll processes across multiple states and ensure compliance with varying jurisdictional requirements\nMaintain and update employee payroll records and documentation\nSupport payroll year-end activities, including W-2/1099 issuance and compliance reporting\nPrepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax forms; process amended returns when necessary.\nDistribute federal and state payroll filings to clients and respond to related inquiries\nUnderstand and facilitate related payroll services such as workers' compensation reporting and timekeeping systems\nInterpret and process various earnings and deductions, including garnishments, benefits, and retirement contributions\nRequired Qualifications\n3+ years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a multi-state environment\nBachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance or experience in a similar field\nStrong working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations\nExperience with employer account registrations (e.g., state withholding, SUI)\nExperience filing and amending quarterly/annual payroll tax forms (e.g., 941, 940, state equivalents)\nFamiliarity with payroll platforms and systems such as ADP, Paychex, Gusto, or similar\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\nHigh attention to detail and strong organizational skills\nAbility to manage multiple client accounts and deadlines effectively\nWhy work for us\nAt H&R Block, our purpose is simple: to provide help and inspire confidence in our clients and communities everywhere.
