This role supports the organization by analyzing cost data, maintaining accurate product costing, and contributing to financial reporting and operational decision-making. The Cost Accountant will work under the direction of the Controller and cross-functional teams to ensure cost accuracy, strengthen inventory controls, and support continuous improvement across financial processes.\nKey Responsibilities\nCost Analysis & Reporting\nGather, review, and interpret cost data related to operations, materials, labor, and overhead.\n\nDevelop and maintain overhead rates and absorption methodologies.\n\nEstimate and analyze costs for new and existing products to support pricing and profitability decisions.\n\nReview item costs and ensure accuracy within the cost system.\n\nAnalyze manufacturing variances and provide insights to operations and finance leadership.\n\nIdentify opportunities for cost reduction and process efficiency.\n\nInventory & Compliance\nParticipate in physical inventory counts and monitor inventory accuracy within the system.\n\nSupport efforts to reduce obsolete inventory and excess materials.\n\nEnsure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.\n\nAssist with general ledger activities and account reconciliations.\n\nReview reconciliations prepared by others to ensure completeness and accuracy.\n\nFinancial Support & Coordination\nAssist with intercompany balancing, variance explanations, and monthly reporting requirements.\n\nSupport indirect tax filings (sales and use tax) and related research.\n\nContribute to documentation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.\n\nAssist with consolidation activities and reporting through financial systems.\n\nParticipate in annual audit preparation and tax support activities.\n\nAnalysis, Projects & Continuous Improvement\nConduct ad hoc financial analyses to support decision-making.\n\nMaintain data consistency across financial systems and support system enhancements.\n\nContribute to the development of dashboards, KPIs, and reporting tools.\n\nSupport team development and cross-functional collaboration.\n\nDemonstrate commitment to continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives.\n\nQualifications\nMinimum of 2 years of experience in cost accounting or a related accounting role.\n\nAssociate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a focus on cost accounting.\n\nStrong analytical skills with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and risk analysis.\n\nProficiency in account reconciliation and financial analysis.\n\nHigh level of integrity and ability to manage confidential information.\n\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.\n\nSelf-motivated, adaptable, and results-driven.\n\nStrong communication skills across verbal, written, and electronic formats.\n\nExperience with MRP/ERP systems; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics or similar platforms preferred.\n\nSolid computer skills, including proficiency with accounting software and Excel.\n\nPay Range: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year\nAt Durex Industries, we are not just an employer but a champion of equal opportunities and inclusivity.
