You will lead the delivery of critical HV power infrastructure, managing complex interfaces across design, construction, testing and commissioning to ensure safe, reliable and efficient project outcomes. You will be joining HS2 at an exciting stage as we deliver one of Europe's most significant rail infrastructure programmes. The scope of these contracts will provide the power systems essential to operating the UK's new high-speed railway and support the successful delivery of this transformational project'\nAbout the role:\nTo be responsible for providing project management support to one or more of the System Delivery Project Integration Senior Project Managers / Head of Delivery for their allocated tasking. \nTo be responsible for supporting in the successful delivery of Railway Systems objectives outcomes. \nInterface with relevant Railway Systems stakeholders, for their particular tasking, as required. \nEngage with relevant stakeholders to carry out effective horizon scanning and identification of mitigation actions.\nTo support the monitoring of the change generated from both within Systems Delivery and Civils/Stations teams is appropriately managed and interfaced; including scope changes and cost changes that impact on the affordability of the project, escalating issues to the Senior Project Manager / Head of Delivery as required. \nTo support robust reporting on the progression of their project deliverables to the Senior Project Manager/ Head of Delivery and more broadly within the Railway systems programme at any required forums / panels, on a routine and ad hoc basis\nTo support the Senior Project Manager / Head of Delivery for ensuring that project plans are developed, maintained and analysed in order to identify and mitigate delivery risks\nTo support the Senior Project Manager / Head of Delivery in identifying and ensuring that appropriate mitigating actions are implemented to address potential milestone slippages and escalating issues as required\nTo be activity involved in the integrated HS2 team, including matrixed team members and any agency staff or consultants, providing day to day co-ordinating to deliver project and / or contract requirements to the agreed schedule.\nTo manage the package contractor(s) to ensure successful delivery of the project to time, budget, scope and quality.\nTo ensure the project is successfully integrated with other related HS2 and Network Rail projects\nTo undertake the duties of the Project Manager under an NEC3 contract.\nActively promote and embed Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies, and procedures on EDI.\nAbout You:\nSkills:\nProject management - the ability to develop, plan and integrate projects to optimise target costs and project benefits. \nProblem solving - identifying problems and reviewing related information to manage the development and evaluation of options and the implementation of solutions. This includes the management and planning of multiple workstreams, considering the competing demands of stakeholders, cost, time, and quality. \nDecision quality - identifying the necessary information, managing the gathering, and synthesising of that information, facilitating the identification of options and the application of judgement based on logic and reason. \nClear direction - analysing inputs, assessing data, defining strategies, and documenting supporting rationales. \nInfluencing and negotiating skills - including internal functions and external supply chain partners. \nKnowledge:\nProject management knowledge aligned to the level of APM Project Manager. \nUnderstanding of risk identification and management. \nUnderstanding of project schedule management, dependencies, and risk assessment. \nUnderstanding of the complexities of delivering projects with multiple interfaces. \nDegree level qualification or equivalent NVQ in project management, engineering, commercial management, or the equivalent experience.\nKnowledge of railway systems and/or Power Systems would be advantageous. \nTypes of Experience\nExperience of managing high value, complex projects. \nExperience of the project lifecycle from pre-contract award through to design, installation, testing, and commissioning. \nExperience of working across functions and disciplines to deliver objectives. \nExperience of managing people directly and in a matrix environment. \nExperience of managing delivery through external contractors and/or suppliers. \nThe post-holder is expected to behave at all times in a manner consistent with the HS2 values of Safety, Leadership, Integrity, and Respect\nIt is expected that you will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies, and procedures on EDI.\nAs HS2 Ltd do not hold a sponsorship license from the Home Office, we are not able to provide sponsorship to any applicant.
