We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Enterprise Architect.
This role is designed as a pathway into enterprise architecture. You’ll will work closely with experienced architects, receive coaching from the Lead Enterprise Architect and gain practical exposure to portfolio management, strategy, architecture tooling and governance. As your capability develops, you will take greater ownership of architecture analysis, stakeholder engagement, roadmap development and governance activities.
You’ll support the Lead Enterprise Architect in managing HSBC UK’s application and technology portfolio across brands and business areas, contributing to technology strategies, roadmaps, governance, risk tracking and application rationalisation. It offers broad exposure to how business strategy, technology, data, security, regulation and governance connect within a major bank. You’ll need to have a professional technical background and banking or financial services experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and a genuine commitment to developing a long-term career in enterprise architecture.

In this role you’ll:
- Manage, analyse and improve the UK application and technology portfolio
- Maintain accurate architecture data, including ownership, lifecycle, dependencies, strategic alignment and technology risks
- Support application portfolio reviews, rationalisation assessments and decommissioning plans
- Contribute to architecture views, technology strategies, standards and roadmaps.
- Prepare materials for architecture governance forums, including decision papers, recommendations and action logs
- Track architecture decisions, risks, exceptions, waivers and dependencies, escalating issues when required
- Collaborate with business, engineering, data, security, risk and control teams to assess proposed technology changes
- Research emerging technologies and industry developments, communicating their potential impact to UK Technology
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Professional experience in software engineering, infrastructure, cloud, data, cybersecurity, application support or technology delivery
- Understanding of UK banking products, operations, regulation and technology
- Skilled at organising information, identifying patterns and developing evidence-based recommendations
- Motivation to build a long-term career in enterprise architecture and learn architecture methods, modelling and governance
- Ability to connect business strategy, technology, data, applications, risk and governance
- Able to explain technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Builds effective relationships and works confidently across business, engineering, data, security, risk and control teams
- Manages multiple activities while maintaining accurate portfolio information, risks, dependencies and governance records.
